At the 13th Sustainable World Resources Conference organised by the Institute of International Affairs on 7 May 2026 at One Farrer Hotel, our Director of Communications and Sustainability, Tichit, spoke on the panel “Innovation, Risk, and Strategy for Bioenergy” to share how applies circular economy principles in our operations through our zero-waste mill approach, and the potential for biomass to play a bigger role in meeting energy needs.
At our mills, biomass generated from palm processing, such as palm kernel shells and empty fruit bunches (EFB), is reused as renewable fuel to generate electricity. We also capture biogas from Palm Oil Mill Effluent ( ), converting waste into energy while reducing emissions. This energy powers our mills and neighbouring communities, with excess electricity sold to the national grid.
The session also explored the opportunities and challenges in scaling bioenergy solutions. While biomass and biogas present strong potential for renewable energy generation, factors such as logistics, infrastructure, and commercial viability remain important considerations for broader adoption.
Looking ahead, Olivier also shared the potential for the freer movement of goods within ASEAN to support the growth of bioenergy markets and strengthen regional resilience.
Dalam konferense Sustainable World Resources Conference 2026 yang diselenggarakan oleh Singapore Institute of International Affairs, Director of Communications and Sustainability Musim Mas, Olivier Tichit, berbagi tentang bagaimana prinsip ekonomi sirkular diterapkan melalui pendekatan zero-waste mill di
