On 23rd April, colleagues and friends came together to mark a meaningful milestone as Rick Tan, our HR Director, retired from VDL ETG Singapore. While goodbyes are never easy, the celebration was filled with fond reflections and heartfelt appreciation for a leader who has made a lasting difference. ❤️

To many of us, Rick has been an influential and respected leader across regions, one whose vision and dedication were instrumental in modernizing our business practices. His leadership leaves behind an enduring legacy dedicated to creating the most inspiring place to work for our people. 🤝

𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗩𝗗𝗟 𝗘𝗧𝗚 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲

Earlier on 18 March, VDL ETG Singapore leaders and employees celebrated Quality First Day – a powerful reinforcement that quality is not just a process, but a mindset shared across our entire organization: 𝗜 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.

A few of our key customers also joined the event, sharing candid feedback through an open discussion session, which reminded us that quality is ultimately defined by the experience we deliver to our customers. 👍

Throughout the day, we engaged in a series of meaningful activities. Key initiatives were also launched, including Lean Six Sigma 2.0, SPC 2.0, and the Quality Culture Drive, marking the next step in strengthening the Quality First culture and capability across the entire organization. Engineers exchanged best practices to tackle quality challenges; technicians and craftsmen joined workshops to translate customer voices into concrete actions together, ready to continuously deliver operational excellence. A special recognition segment highlighted our Lean Six Sigma Black and Green Belt achievers, project teams and Quality Quiz winners – celebrating the individuals who turn quality principles into real impact and daily work habits.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and contributed. Quality is a journey, and through Quality First Day, we took another meaningful step forward – together with our customers. 🤝

Sustainability isn’t just a goal - it’s part of how we work every day. Carol plays a key role in strengthening processes, managing risks, and driving our ESG journey forward. One proud highlight of her work was streamlining quality and environmental processes, making them easier for teams to follow and improving how data is tracked - helping us build a more transparent and sustainable business. For Carol, the best part was seeing departments unite with genuine commitment, proving that small changes can spark big impact.

When reflecting on feedback from colleagues, Carol was especially moved by one simple yet powerful comment: “I really appreciate your positive attitude.” For her, it was a reminder that how we show up each day - through positivity, encouragement, and resilience - can make a real difference in the workplace. Carol also finds joy in simple moments of connection, like lunch with colleagues. Outside of work, Carol recharges by traveling and exploring new cultures, food, and places - always bringing fresh perspectives back to her role.

To celebrate this year’s 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆, our female colleagues joined a creative DIY photo frame activity - designing frames with personalized pictures and decorations. Beyond the crafts, it was a great chance to bond, to share stories, and to enjoy flowers, cakes, and meaningful conversations. ❤️

A team from VDL ETG Singapore recently spent several weeks at VDL Enabling Technologies Group (ETG) Almelo, Netherlands. By working side-by-side with counterpart technicians and engineers, they tackled complex technical challenges and strengthened bonds across locations. 🌍 🤝

The inspiring exchange of knowledge and teamwork wrapped up with a highlight: the annual VDL Day at Winter Efteling.

Jason Zhu Shenjie, Senior Engineer from the SG team shared: “Working shoulder-to-shoulder with our Almelo colleagues reminded us that our greatest strength is our global team - always ready for our customers.”

Last week, we celebrated a new milestone with the soft opening of a new cleanroom for KLA, one of our key customers, at the ETG Singapore SQ1 Building.

The ceremony brought together senior executives from both VDL Enabling Technologies Group (ETG) and KLA, celebrating together the opening of a facility and the start of new opportunities for collaboration and growth. 📈

The expansion of our cleanroom capability reflects mutual confidence in the semiconductor industry’s outlook and demonstrates our long‑term commitment to grow side by side with our customers in Asia. With over half a century of experience in Singapore, VDL continues to invest in stronger collaboration and greater innovation - because we believe the future of the semiconductor industry is one we build together with customers. 🤝

𝗩𝗗𝗟 𝗘𝗧𝗚 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗠𝗨 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗕𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀’ 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 🎓

Earlier in January 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming Global Exchange MBA students from Singapore Management University (SMU) to VDL ETG Singapore. From arrival to networking, the students enjoyed a full program: an engaging company introduction, an interactive factory tour, and dynamic discussions on their key interests in VDL and the semiconductor world.

The energy throughout the day was fantastic! We were truly impressed by the students’ curiosity, enthusiasm, and global mindset. Their visit reminded us of the importance of inspiring the next generation of leaders. We look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with SMU and continue shaping future global leaders! 🚀 👏

After an incredible 𝟯𝟬 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 of service, colleagues and friends proudly honored Qiu Jiang earlier in December 2025 as he retired from VDL ETG Singapore. The celebration was a heartfelt tribute to his remarkable journey, marking not just the end of a chapter, but the beginning of new adventures ahead. 🚀

Throughout his career, Qiu Jiang’s expertise, dedication, and commitment to excellence have left a lasting impact. As a 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁, his contributions shaped countless projects and inspired many working alongside him. 👏 💡

𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗴

As a Process Engineer in parts-making, Angela develops and fine-tunes manufacturing processes for high-precision components used in advanced semiconductor equipment. She thrives on 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - working closely with production, quality, planning, and purchasing teams to ensure every process is efficient, reliable, and built to meet the highest standards.

Angela’s proudest moments come when she sees 𝗮 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 with parts she helped engineer. But for her, even the smallest wins matter - whether it’s a process tweak, a completed task, or a heartfelt “thank you” from a teammate. She credits her team’s strong spirit and her managers’ leadership for creating a space where learning and support go hand in hand.

Her career has been shaped by two powerful pieces of advice: “𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 - 𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺” and “𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀.” These mantras fuel her growth-driven mindset. Compliments from colleagues like “curious,” “challenge-ready,” and “solution-focused” remind her she’s on the right path.

Outside work, Angela’s curiosity never sleeps. From Weiqi and 3D printing to flipping through a General Practitioner Diagnostic Manual purely out of curiosity, just to understand what different symptoms might mean. She’s always exploring. Whether it’s psychology, astronomy, or a good cup of tea - Angela proves that a restless curious mind is powerful.
