Energy independence isn’t about what you sell back to the grid. It’s about what you never have to buy from it.
Many homeowners focus on export rebates. But in most homes, the stronger return comes from self-consumption: using the solar power your roof generates during the day, instead of buying electricity from the grid.
So before reviewing a solar quote, ask:
“How much of my projected savings comes from using my own solar power — and how much comes from exporting it?”
That answer tells you whether the system was designed around your actual home usage, or just around maximum panel count.
Better solar isn’t about more panels. It’s about smarter system design.
