Eureka Robotics Democratizing High Accuracy – High Agility automation

Another highlight from iREX: CAD-matching visual inspection 👀

In many factories, inspection still means manually comparing CAD data with the actual part—time-consuming and labor-intensive work.
For large workpieces, inspections often become even more complex, requiring multiple cameras, fixed layouts, or robots with extensive teaching.

With CAD × AI, Eureka simplifies this process.
Using just one camera, the system performs one-shot inspection on large parts—
✔ No precise positioning
✔ No robot required
✔ No complex setup

🎥 Watch the demo video to see how simple visual inspection can be.

One of the demos that debuted at iREX and drew particularly strong interest was high-precision picking of complex-shaped parts.

In random bin-picking scenarios, parts vary in pose and geometry every time.
Fine features and reflective metal surfaces often make stable 3D perception difficult for conventional approaches.

At Eureka Robotics, we tackle these challenges with:

✔ Robust 3D perception
Consistently generates high-quality point clouds across a wide range of materials—metal, plastic, and reflective surfaces. Stable even during in-hand motion.

✔ Intelligent part understanding
AI models reliably recognize and handle complex, intricate geometries.

✔ Precise motion ex*****on
Advanced motion planning and control enable accurate pick-and-place, even when part orientations vary.

🎥 Watch the demo video to see it in action.

🚗 Thank you for visiting us at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2025 NAGOYA! Held from July 16–18 in Aichi, the expo saw over 35,000 visitors and 475 exhibitors.

We showcased three demos, each focused on automation in real-world factory settings:

🔧 Force-Controlled Connector Insertion
A connector moving along a slider is picked and inserted into a mating part with precision. With our conveyor tracking and force control technology, this process—previously done by hand—can now be automated.

🪛 Random Bin Picking of Shiny Metal Parts
Our 3D camera works without a projector, enabling reliable detection of reflective and translucent parts. It handles reflective, semi-transparent, and irregular items using deep learning-based 3D recognition.

Using 3D image recognition technology enables the automation of visual inspection. However, this also comes with technical challenges. For example, car side mirror covers have a convex shape and a highly reflective surface, making it difficult for conventional projector-based image recognition technology to achieve accurate detection due to reflections. Detecting minute scratches and defects is even more challenging.

✨ Report from Automotive World 2025 ✨
To address these challenges, the Eureka 3D Camera and the Eureka Controller demonstrated their capabilities.
At our partner Maruka Furusato (Unisol Group) booth at Automotive World 2025 in Tokyo this January, Eureka showcased its advanced 3D image recognition technology, which is highly resistant to reflections. The system successfully identified the left and right orientation of randomly placed side mirror covers and detected and sorted them based on the presence of minute scratches.

Key Highlights of the Demo
✅ A single Eureka Controller seamlessly controlled the robot, 3D camera, 2D camera, and peripheral devices
✅ 3D Reconstruction, Detection, Classification and On-the-Fly Computation of Suction Approach
✅ AI-based High-Precision Defect Detection: Accurately identifies fine scratches, dents
✅ Easy-to-Train AI Models: The Eureka Controller enables non-programmers to train their own AI models for vision inspection
✅ The system setup, which typically takes 2–3 months, was reduced to just 3–4 days.

SIer engineers who witnessed the system development of the demonstration were astonished by the remarkable speed and precision.

Visitors, including major automakers and Tiers 1–3 suppliers, showed great interest in the demo. Many engaged in in-depth discussions with our representatives about the potential application of this technology for their own visual inspection processes.

🚀 3D image recognition technology is shaping the future of visual inspection!
