We are thrilled to announce that The Blue Circle received the Green Lane Certificate of Endorsement from the Philippine Board of Investments for three of our onshore wind projects.

Last Thursday, BOI Governor Marjorie O. Ramos-Samaniego presented the awards to our team for the Kalayaan 4, Baao and Ibajay wind energy projects which represent a combined capacity of close to 600 MW.

In accordance with Executive Order No. 18 on “Constituting Green Lanes for Strategic Investments,” from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., these three projects will now be considered as strategic investments for the Philippines. Obtaining green lane status serves to expedite permit and license issuance, including resolving strategic investment issues.

Started 5th of June 1973, an environmental outreach led by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) became the largest platform celebrated by millions of people across the world and now being held annually as World Environment Day.

This day serves as an opportunity to unite efforts for a greener and healthier planet. This also sets a reminder and call of action for all individuals, organizations, and government offices to engage in activities towards achieving a sustainable environment.

In order to celebrate World Environment Day, The Blue Circle in partnership with DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) joined hands to celebrate this event by planting trees in Tayak Adventure Nature and Wildlife (TANAW) Park, a proclaimed protected area located in Rizal, Laguna, Philippines. The activity also saw representatives from the offices of the local government unit (LGU), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), UPLB College of Sociology, Bureau of Fire of Rizal, Laguna, and Volunteers from other Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).

It is the advocacy of The Blue Circle to contribute to fight against climate change, preservation of biodiversity, and help improve the quality of life of all people and animals alike.

In order to celebrate Earth Week 2023, our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Olivier Duguet proudly announced the winners of the Walk to Win Challenge held from March 6 to April 6, 2023.

With a total of 638,902 steps in a month, we congralute Mr Huy Nguyen Quoc as the Winner of the Walk to Win Challenge 2023. He was closely followed by Mr. Joel Jaranilla from the Philippines Team who gathered a total of 632, 219 steps. In 3rd place, Mr. Muhammad Ashraf did not expect to win but surely enjoyed the challenge.

This challenge motivated the participants to choose walking over transportation and we successfully managed to raise awareness to save some carbon.

This event also gave opportunity to hear the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) from our CEO Olivier Duguet. The TBC journey towards achieving sustainable goals was discussed by Priyanka Awasthi (Chief Sustainable Officer), Sustainability in construction perspective by Herve Grillot (Chief Construction Officer), relevance of Renewable Energy to climate change and its impact by Gilles Beau (Wind Engineering Manager), and the importance of stakeholder’s management by Nguyen Van Truong (Vietnam and Philippines Country Director).
For all the participants, we cant thank you enough for your enthusiasm in taking part of this challenge.

Last 28 February 2023, a Motor Tank with 800,000 Liters of industrial oil or commonly known as “Black Oil” sank in the coast of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. The oil tanker sank 460 meters deep and oil started to spill affecting marine ecosystems, livelihood of fisherfolks, and compromising the health of coastal residents of Mindoro and Antique with a total of 81 coastal barangays affected to date, who already declared the State of Calamity.

Due to the incident and declaration of State of Calamity, a fishing ban was implemented in the two Provinces thus compromising primary livelihood and income resource of the residents.

Unlike the other coastal Barangays affected, Liwagao Island’s location can only be accessed through local boats due to limited and small ports making relief efforts difficult. Thus, a major challenge that the local communities are facing is a lack of food and potable water.

In order to help to the affected communities in surmounting this crisis, The Blue Circle joined hands with Liwagao's community leaders to provide relief packages to households.

The TBC team was able to provide 160 Relief packs of goods (including canned goods, biscuits and noodles), 1600 kgs of rice and 640 gallons of water for 152 families at the Sitio (Community) Day Care Center.

We hope to be able to extend sustainable initiatives in our affected projects' communities across the entire Philippines and help build resiliency and autonomy for the local people in such situations.
