Paintbrushes out, creative caps on! 🖌️ Each June, a few SLNG staff volunteers come together to bring children from Life Community Ltd.'s MightyKids, Families & Community programme out for a special holiday outing. This year’s destination: a landscape painting workshop at the Visual Arts Centre in Chinatown.

From blank canvases to finished masterpieces, the imagination and artistic vision of both the children and our staff spilled out onto the canvas (both metaphorically and literally) in colourful, unique ways. Scroll through to see their masterpieces and who knows, they might ignite the creative spark in you too!

Does burning LNG produce as much CO₂ as oil and coal?

In this month’s edition of LNG Myths, we dive into how natural gas stacks up against other fossil fuels, in terms of emissions when burned. The numbers tell a more nuanced story than most may realise. Swipe through to separate fact from fiction.

is a series where we take you behind the scenes of what goes on inside the SLNG Terminal.

Spanning 40 hectares on Jurong Island, the SLNG Terminal is sizeable – the walk from the main gate to the primary jetty alone is no short stroll. So how do our people get around efficiently? Simple: every terminal staff is assigned a bicycle or tricycle to use for navigating around the terminal, sometimes from end to end for pipeline checks and equipment inspections. The tricycles have baskets that allow staff to also bring along light tools or spare parts safely. It’s one of those small details that helps energise our staff and keeps our operations running safely and smoothly, day in and day out.

Fun fact: For safety reasons, staff are required to take a practical and theory assessment before they are allowed to use a bicycle/tricycle.

Whether it’s nights, weekends, or public holidays, there’s always a team working at the SLNG Terminal. In our new series, CTRL + ALT + SHIFT, we’re shining a spotlight on the dedicated shift teams that keep SLNG running 24/7, offering an inside look at what their roles entail during each shift.

In this first edition, we feature Safiah Alwi, Senior Technician (Production), who has been with SLNG since the construction phase of the terminal. With over 14 years of experience across various roles, ranging from maintenance and jetty operations to loading master and more, Safiah takes us behind the scenes of her role as a main panelman, breaking down the key responsibilities that ensure the terminal’s operations run smoothly, no matter the time of day.

Continuing with our tradition, came together recently to commemorate our 13th anniversary 🎉, and to give back to the community. This year, we took it to the beach.

Partnering with Stridy, we helped clean up East Coast Park over two sessions. The team showed up and scoured the walkways, toiling under the heat with litter-pickers, trash bags, and willing hearts. We collected a total of 46 kg of litter, proof that even a small effort can make a real impact 💪. With every piece of litter logged on the Stridy app, we could see exactly what our efforts added up to, which made it all the more satisfying.

Here’s to SLNG’s 13 years and to a team that is not just committed to their jobs, but also to leaving things in the community better than they found them.

When completed, the Onshore Connecting Infrastructure (OCI) for Singapore's Second LNG Terminal will serve as a vital "pipeline bridge", designed to keep Singapore’s natural gas flowing uninterrupted for decades to come. The challenge? Delivering this critical system within the tight corridors of a live port where operations run 24/7 and nothing pauses for construction.

Step behind the scenes with Senior Project Manager Desmond Leong to uncover the "invisible rigour" built into the design of the OCI to ensure the highest standards of safety and reliability: https://www.slng.com.sg/building-the-link-behind-singapore-second-lng-terminal.

⚓ Keel laid. Foundation set. Full steam ahead.

Last week, some of our colleagues attended the keel laying ceremony for the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) for Singapore’s Second LNG Terminal. This is another key milestone in the shipbuilding journey, symbolising the formal start of assembly of the vessel’s modular components. A longstanding tradition of the keel laying ceremony, is the insertion of coins under the keel as an “offering” for safe voyage and good luck.

The FSRU’s construction has been progressing according to schedule. Thank you to the teams whose dedication has brought us to this point, and who will see the project through to completion.

Our CEO Leong Wei Hung and some members of our LNG Market & Business Solutions team recently visited JiaXing Gas Group’s Pinghu LNG Terminal in China. It was a valuable opportunity to see their operations up close and learn from their best practices. Observing their truck loading bay in action also provided a useful preview of what to expect for our own new truck loading facility.

Thank you to Chairman Sun Lian Qing and the JiaXing Gas Group team for hosting us and sharing their insights!
