Space Faculty was over the moon to be invited to the SG Youth Forum last Saturday, where Singapore's President Tharman launched the SG Youth Plan — Singapore's five-year roadmap for young Singaporeans. Its top priority: careers and career exposure.

At our booth, students held real satellite hardware and asked the question we live for: "How do I get started?"

Our flagship programme, the , is today one of the world's longest-running and most premium space competitions. Born in Singapore in 2007 and backed by leading local and global organisations — ELT Group, DSTA, IMDA, Lockheed Martin and SATORO Space — has been many a young person's first step into space.

ISC is merely one of many doors we open, and across every programme, the doors add up: 29,194 leaders engaged. 102 nationalities. From classroom to orbit. Talent is built in generations, not overnight.

To every young Singaporean who stopped by; thank you for your curiosity, your questions and your spark. This is exactly why we do what we do.

Spotlight here on Lianhe Zaobao 联合早报 12 July 2026: 《数据中心筑梦太空》— a feature on space-based data centres and Singapore's space ecosystem and Space Faculty's CEO Lynette Tan was invited to contribute.

What is the feature about?

Data centres in orbit trade one set of constraints for another. Uninterrupted solar power and vacuum cooling, in exchange for radiation tolerance, thermal rejection, downlink economics, servicing access and debris liability. None of those are software problems. They are spacecraft engineering problems with a balance sheet attached.

As a Singapore space engineering and workforce-capability organisation — spacecraft design, payload testing, satellite mission support — that is the lens Space Faculty brought to the piece.

Every constraint above becomes a decision somebody has to own: a procurement lead, a programme manager, a regulator, an engineer. New space technologies are arriving faster than the people qualified to put them to work. Closing that gap is what Space Faculty exists to do, working alongside global space leaders JAXA, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Lockheed Martin and ELT Group.

And this October, with Dassault Systèmes, we are running a four-day 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 — 20–23 October 2026, in Singapore. The course covers Spacecraft systems, design trade-offs, mission considerations, and the digital-twin and simulation tooling the industry now runs on.

..or is there? 🤔

Join the Kibo Robot Programming Challenge (Kibo-RPC) is to help Int-Ball 2 patrol sites of interest in Kibo, inspect them closely, and discover if there's actually a leak on the ISS!

🤖 Organised by JAXA(宇宙航空研究開発機構) (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) in partnership with Space Faculty, this competition tasks teams of students with solving complex problems onboard the ISS by programming the Int-Ball 2 robot to complete various assigned tasks.

The difference between a strong application and a standout one often comes down to experience.
