TeamNUS (Solar Decathlon China 2013)

TeamNUS (Solar Decathlon China 2013) Join TeamNUS and its journey to the 2013 Solar Decathlon China competition in Datong, China.

The Solar Decathlon is a bi-annual international competition first held in 2002 that challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered residential homes that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. There are ten contests by which the houses are judged in a 10-day period, thus the name of the competition as a decathlon. Five of the contests are measured or monito

red contests, such as Energy Use and Thermal Comfort. The remaining are juried contests, such as Architecture and Engineering innovations, and Market Appeal. The competition has shown great success, with 300,000 visitors in the 2009 Solar Decathlon. TeamNUS is an interfaculty team from the School of Design & Environment (SDE), Faculty of Engineering (FoE), Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), and NUS Business School. Led by the SDE Department of Architecture, the team comprises 59 students from 10 departments across the 4 faculties. The team is supported by Integrated Sustainability Solution Cluster (Office of the Provost), NUS Energy Office, School of Design and Environment Dean's Office, and Faculty of Engineering Dean's Office. The students are led by faculty members from both School of Design & Environment and Faculty of Engineering.
