‘Solar for Dover’ is a student led initiative that aims to reduce the carbon footprint across the Dover campus through the introduction of solar panels. Over the next two years, we hope to install a total of 860 panels across 3 locations: the Art Block, the Senior Sports Hall, and the Junior Sports Hall. These 860 panels will prevent over 137,000kg of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere ea
ch year! Once fully operational, these panels can meet as much as 50% of our school’s electricity for lighting. This project is a tangible way that the whole College can get involved in creating a more sustainable future. We are allowing families, individuals, or even as a group to adopt and donate towards this aim. Each panel costs $600 to install, but the panel is divided into more affordable sections of $100. We will be recognizing your support, as the name of the group who made the gift will be on the panel, along with perhaps a picture or a message of support. So far, 70 total panels have been adopted, and a total of $43,000 has been raised. We have received many donations from parents, teachers, and families. We have been promoting this initiative at various Foundation and College events. Student volunteers have held booths at Foundation corporate events, Donor Celebration events, and at the Dover Holiday and Community fairs.
