Can lightning strike before it starts raining?

Many people associate lightning with heavy rain, but that isn’t always the case.

A recent Straits Times article featuring weather researchers from Singapore and the meteorological service explains that lightning can occur before rain reaches the ground. In some cases, a β€œbolt from the blue” can even strike kilometres away from the parent thunderstorm, catching people completely by surprise.

Retrofitting lightning protection can be challenging when rooftop space is at a premium

As rooftops become increasingly occupied by mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment, maintaining the required separation distance in accordance with IEC 62305 and relevant local standards can be a challenge.

Our High Voltage Insulation (HVI) conductors can be routed directly over metallic parts thus providing greater routing flexibility and making it easier to maintain required separation distance in space-constrained or architecturally challenging projects.
