We developed conjugated polyelectrolyte polyHIPE hydrogels with tunable ionic content and showed that their structure determines swelling, porosity, and interfacial activity in water. Bisphenols (A, F, S and AF) are used as a model system to show how adsorption and photocatalysis are governed by polymer design. At the Kemijski inลกtitut - National Institute of Chemistry we hosted an interactive hashtag where young creators explored the world of molecular gastronomy. Using alginate and fruit juices, the children experimented with textures and flavours to create their own custom "๐›๐ฎ๐›๐›๐ฅ๐ž ๐ญ๐ž๐š."

By mixing food colouring and aroma extracts, they not only made a drink but also explored the fundamentals of food science and took their handmade creations home in glass bottles.

It was a fantastic day of learning by doing! ๐Ÿ˜€

Carbon footprint has become the primary method for measuring and reporting companies' environmental and energy indicators worldwide. Sustainability reporting includes carbon footprint calculations, and plans for decarbonising companies are based on a thorough understanding of the carbon footprint and the opportunities for developing green transition strategies to achieve climate goals. ๐ŸŒฟ

To this end, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy, Jozef Stefan Institute organized a consultation on carbon footprints, bringing together stakeholders in this field and highlighting various aspects of calculation โ€“ ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐›๐ฅ๐ž๐ฆ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง. As part of the consultation, experts in the field of carbon footprint calculation and sustainable reporting gave presentations on the requirements and methods of reporting, while companies presented their experiences in calculation and reporting.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ At the Kemijski inลกtitut - National Institute of Chemistry, weโ€™re exploring ๐›๐ข๐จ-๐›๐š๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ฆ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ and ๐œ๐ข๐ซ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ that prevent plastic pollution at its source โ€” ensuring that what begins in our rivers doesnโ€™t end up harming our seas.
