❗️This is an urgent appeal for medication to save baby Haven 🐘

Haven needs you. The horrific elephant endotheliotropic herpesvirus (EEHV) has hit Samui Elephant Haven, taking our beloved 2 year old baby Luna. Now our sweet 3 year old Haven is unwell. We are battling the virus with expensive antiviral medication to give Haven a fighting chance.

This medication is very costly and hard to come by. If we can provide Haven with enough, we are hopeful that he can pull through. It is essential that he gets the very best care possible, we cannot lose another baby to this deadly virus.

One round of the antiviral medicine costs approximately ฿160,000 Thai Baht (USD$4,600 / INR₹379,800 / GBP£3,500), which will last for 4 days. This was flown into Samui yesterday. But we need to order more, to protect Haven and our other young 6 year old elephant Perm P**n.

We are asking you to help us raise ฿300,000 Thai Baht (~ USD$8,800 / INR₹720,000 / GBP£6,700) for this potentially lifesaving medication.

EEHV is a type of herpesvirus that can cause a highly dangerous disease in young Asian elephants. It is so difficult to treat because by the time the virus shows in a blood test, or by the time symptoms start to show, it is often too late. There is not yet a vaccine for EEHV. It’s a dreadful virus that’s a major threat to the long term survival of the Asian elephant.

We currently have our vets onsite, alongside specialist vets sent by Elephant Nature Park (to whom we are so grateful), and we are monitoring Haven, Perm P**n and the rest of herd around the clock. We are doing everything we possibly can to protect our herd of rescued elephants against this cruel virus, but we need your help.
