One of the values I hold dear to my heart is to stay curious. That’s why when the UK Fashion and Textile Association ( UK Fashion & Textile Association ) asked me to moderate a panel on data at their Sustainability Conference, I said yes in a heartbeat. A question I often ask myself is: What data does the industry actually need to make circularity commercially viable, not just aspirational? Who needs it, and when? I’ll be putting these questions to my three panelists: Kristina Bull from WEFT Limited, Woody Lello from Truss AI, and Kevin Dixie from Buyerdock - Digital Product Passport.

One of the milestones for us is to have the brand choose RCO100 for a variety of styles, including this bag, in their SS26 Made in Kenya collection, made by the wonderful craftspeople at Artisan Kenya. Artisan Fashion is the first project launched by EFI to connect artisans living in urban and rural poverty with the global fashion chain.

Last week at the Future Fabrics Expo in Brussels, something clicked: this industry demands a marathon tempo, not a sprint.

Not joining every association or show. Not manufacturing „growth“ through artificially generated marketing. Everything good takes time to come to fruition. It means sticking to your core, believing in your hero product, and bringing it to the table to enjoy with others. That’s what shines through in the end. That’s good business.

Icarus ignored his father’s warnings, flew too close to the sun, and the wax holding his wings melted. He fell.

The moral, Icarus‘ and mine: stick to what you know. Aim for the stars, within reason. And remember, nobody looks up at a single star. We admire the clusters that shine brightly together. Innovation is no different.

Slow and steady creates the change.
