What is DIC technology and how it works ...

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is a non-contact, optical measurement method that tracks surface deformations, shapes, and strains using digital camera images. It works by capturing a patterned object under load and using computer software to match pixel groups across frames.
How DIC Works
• Speckle Pattern: A high-contrast random dot pattern is applied to the surface of the test object.
• Image Capture: Two or more synchronized cameras record the object before and during movement or stress.
• Tracking Subsets: Software divides the images into small pixel blocks (subsets) and follows their movement in 3D space.
• Data Computation: Displacements are converted into full-field strain and deformation maps.
