[News Update] NIA Showcases Thai Startups' Potential in SEA Market at Echelon Singapore 2025, Strengthening AI, MedTech, and Climate Tech Industries, Reaffirming Role in Supporting Thai Businesses Towards the Global Market
The National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) or NIA, under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), partnered with Echelon Singapore 2025. This annual technology business conference and exhibition brought together startups, investors, large corporations, and partner agencies from the government, private, and academic sectors across various countries. The event aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and insights on industry trends, technology flows, and market directions, and to foster collaborative networks for developing a global startup ecosystem. It took place on June 10-11, 2025, at Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore, attracting over 10,000 attendees and facilitating more than 200 business-matching sessions between startups and investors.
NIA led five Thai startups from the Artificial Intelligence (AI), Medical Technology (MedTech), and Climate Technology (Climate Tech) industries – namely BOTNOI, Carbonwize, Cleantech and Beyond, FitSloth, and HAUPCAR – to exhibit in the Top 100 zone and participate in the Startup Thailand Showcase (Private Pitching) activity. This allowed them to present their business plans to a network of investors from multiple countries. This was a crucial period for the startups to demonstrate the potential of their products and services. Following their presentations, startups and investors engaged in lively discussions and exchanges, significantly enhancing opportunities for securing business partnerships with potential companies and accessing investments from international funds.
Another key highlight of the event, reflecting the appeal of Thai startups from a regional market perspective, was BOTNOI. As a pioneer in AI-powered customer service and conversational platforms, empowering businesses with intelligent chatbots and making automation more accessible for various enterprises, BOTNOI was selected for the Top 10 Showcase Award. They also participated in pitching their business plan to investors and interested parties at the event. This selection process identifies promising startups expected to play a significant role in fostering innovation in the Southeast Asian region. This clearly reflects the immense creative potential and global growth opportunities of Thai startups.
Additionally, NIA engaged in networking activities and collaborations with international agencies by participating in the Gov2Gov Market Access Session. This session involved government agencies from Southeast Asian countries, including the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (MCDA) (Indonesia), Iskandar Investment Berhad (Malaysia), and Enterprise Singapore (Singapore), to exchange ideas on startup promotion and Thai market perspectives. NIA also joined a panel discussion titled "Scaling with the State: Partnering with ASEAN Governments for Growth," alongside government agencies from Southeast Asian countries such as the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (MCDA) (Indonesia), ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (Sri Lanka), and Enterprise Singapore (Singapore). These discussions aimed to exchange ideas on startup development and raise awareness about promoting Thailand's innovation ecosystem, ultimately fostering collaborative networks with international agencies pivotal in developing and elevating the potential of Thai startups for the global market.
The event fostered an atmosphere of exchanging ideas and experiences in business development and innovation from representatives across the government, private, and academic sectors. Key discussions focused on issues that will impact the transformation and future of Southeast Asia, including: (1) addressing global challenges stemming from geopolitical conflicts and economic volatility by consolidating cooperation to strengthen the startup ecosystem as a vital foundation for regional economic growth; (2) developing policies and good governance aligned with the advanced development of AI technology to enable access to AI's full potential and create a greater positive impact on business and consumer transformation; and (3) accelerating the promotion of Climate Tech startups and ecosystem development in line with business ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices and investment trends, as well as being a crucial part of sustainably addressing climate change.
