TRAGEN is a Small Enterprise Company quite new and set up 20.06.2014. TRAGEN located in Trakya University Technopark having some tax advantages for research company because Turkish Government highly promote basic and applied research recently. The owners of company are Assoc Prof. Dr. Yalcin Kaya and Assist Prof. Dr. Necmi Beser from Trakya University Engineering Faculty Genetics and Bioengineerin
g department. Dr Kaya had M Sc in University of Nebraska- Lincoln, USA on sunflower breeding, and Dr Beser had M Phil on plant breeding and genetics in Birmingham and Reading Universities, UK. They have made successful task and have a vast experience in plant breeding and genetics with performing for many years in Trakya Agricultural Research Institute in Edirne, Turkey. After more than 25 years research carriers, they left and started in University and they set that private research company to transfer their knowledge and experiences into applied area. TRAGEN Research Company has some genetic materials in rice, wheat, barley, bean, oil and confectionery sunflower and pumpkin and conduct breeding programs. In addition to conduct crop improvement programs to develop new lines, cultivars and hybrids, TRAGEN made some agreements conduct yield trials; advisory works on plant breeding, seed production and research studies, etc. with some companies and will continues in this area too.
