We Are Advancing the Decarbonization Journey in Shipping Together
Following the “Biofuels in Maritime” seminar, we gathered valuable insights into the industry’s perception of and approach to biofuels.
Hosted by Arkas Bunker and DB Tarımsal Enerji, the seminar brought together experts from various disciplines to discuss sustainable shipping, biofuel applications, regulations, and operational experiences.

The feedback collected from participants after the event revealed highly encouraging results:

Denizcilikte Biyoyakıt: Küresel Ticaretin Rotası Düşük Karbonlu Yakıtlara Dönüyor
Arkas Bunker ve DB Tarımsal Enerji, denizcilikte biyoyakıt kullanımını sürdürülebilirlik, teknik uyum, regülasyonlar ve saha deneyimi ekseninde ele aldı.

İstanbul’da düzenlenen “Denizcilikte Biyoyakıt” seminerinde, DB Tarımsal Enerji’nin yerli ve sertifikalı biyoyakıt üretim altyapısı ile Arkas Bunker’ın denizcilik yakıtı tedariki ve saha uygulama deneyiminin düşük karbonlu yakıtlara geçişte tamamlayıcı bir model sunduğu vurgulandı. Seminerde bu dönüşümün yalnızca çevresel bir başlık olmadığı, karbon regülasyonlarıyla birlikte navlun maliyetleri, ihracat rekabeti, finansman koşulları ve tedarik zinciri güvenliği açısından da stratejik önem taşıdığı belirtildi.

Biofuels in Shipping: Global Trade Is Steering Toward Low-Carbon Fuels
Arkas Bunker and DB Tarımsal Enerji addressed the use of biofuels in shipping through the lenses of sustainability, technical compatibility, regulations, and field experience. At the “Biofuels in Shipping” seminar held in Istanbul, it was emphasized that DB Tarımsal Enerji’s domestic and certified biofuel production infrastructure, together with Arkas Bunker’s marine fuel supply and on-site application experience, offers a complementary model for the transition to low-carbon fuels.

Our General Manager at Arkas Bunker, Seçkin Gül, attended the 3rd Workshop of the Maritime Sector Technology Roadmap Research Project, hosted by TÜBİTAK MAM on June 4, 2026.

Contributing to the discussions under the theme of “Green Ships and Sustainable Propulsion Technologies,” Gül highlighted Türkiye’s opportunities in the field of sustainable fuels, its potential to become a major green hub thanks to its strategic position on global trade routes, and the value that the sector’s past experience can bring to shaping the vision of the future.

We believe that sustainability, innovation, and practical solutions must be addressed together in the transformation of the maritime industry. Arkas Bunker Genel Müdürümüz Seçkin Gül, 4 Haziran 2026 tarihinde TÜBİTAK MAM ev sahipliğinde gerçekleştirilen, Denizcilik Sektöründe Teknoloji Yol Haritası Araştırma Projesi 3. Çalıştayı’na katılım sağladı.

Çalıştay kapsamında ele alınan “Yeşil Gemiler ve Sürdürülebilir Sevk Teknolojileri” başlığında katkılarını sunan Gül; Türkiye’nin sürdürülebilir yakıt alanındaki imkânlarına, global ticaret rotaları üzerindeki stratejik konumuyla önemli bir yeşil merkez olma potansiyeline ve sektörün geçmiş deneyimlerinin gelecek vizyonuna değer katabileceğine dikkat çekti.

Denizcilik sektörünün dönüşümünde sürdürülebilirlik, yenilikçilik ve uygulanabilir çözümlerin birlikte ele alınmasının büyük önem taşıdığına inanıyoruz. Today, we proudly celebrate the second anniversary of a groundbreaking milestone for the Turkish maritime industry: the first biofuel bunkering operation.

Exactly two years ago, on May 18, 2024, at Marport Terminal, the biofuel we supplied to the vessel Matilde A, operated by Arkas Line, was more than just a routine delivery—it was the first tangible step toward building strategic green corridors across the Mediterranean.

That “first step” we took on that day has, over the past two years, expanded into a vast ecosystem. While the industry today continues to explore pathways for regulatory compliance, we have been actively deploying the fuels of the future at sea for two years, achieving an average carbon reduction of 26% through our biofuel bunkering operations.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Arkas Line team, which has successfully combined this historic vision with strong operational ex*****on, as well as to all our valuable partners across the value chain.

 Bugün, Türkiye denizcilik sektörü için ezber bozan bir kilometre taşının, ilk biyoyakıt ikmalinin 2. yıl dönümünü gururla kutluyoruz.
Tam iki yıl önce, 18 Mayıs 2024 tarihinde Marport limanında, Arkas Line filosuna ait Matilde A gemisine tedarik ettiğimiz biyoyakıt; bizim için salt bir ikmal değil, Akdeniz sularında inşa edilecek stratejik yeşil koridorların ilk somut adımıydı.

O gün attığımız bu “ilk adım”, aradan geçen iki yılda genişleyerek devasa bir ekosisteme dönüştü. Sektör bugün regülasyonlara uyum yolları ararken, biz yarının yakıtlarını iki yıldır fiilen denizde yüzdürüyor, biyoyakıt ikmallerimizle ortalama %26 karbon emisyon azaltımı sağlıyoruz.
