Vignette 1- La Brea Innovation Challenge

28/01/2026

Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL) was voted Champions of the Innovation Challenge, at the 2026 Energy Conference, held at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain (Jan 26-28). Presenting on behalf of the company were Rayadh Mayrhoo, Process Engineer II, and Lyandra Ramsamooj, Environmental Supervisor, who discussed two Operational Philosophy Innovations that were conceptualized, assessed and implemented at the company, within the last 24 months:

-Non-Utilization of Natural Gas Booster Compressor
-Auxiliary Boiler Optimization – Single Boiler Operation

Both initiatives represented innovative reconfigurations of existing systems, and both required revised procedures and engineering solutions to ensure stable, efficient, plant performance.

These innovations won out in the end, owing to their relevance to the natural-gas-based petrochemical industry and wider energy-intensive industrial sectors. Added to this, these innovations were actually implemented and are fully operational. This achievement highlights the dedication, competence and alignment of our cross-functional team and demonstrates the true spirit of teamwork and the importance of collaboration for shared success.
