COTT AND THE TOBAGO PROMOTERS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCE NEW LICENSING PARTNERSHIP

Port of Spain / Tobago | 28 July 2026 - The Copyright Music Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) and the Tobago Promoters Association (TPA) has entered into a collaborative licensing arrangement, aimed at strengthening copyright compliance and supporting the sustainable development of Tobago’s events and entertainment sector.

Under the arrangement, eligible TPA members will benefit from reduced Copyright and Neighbouring Rights licensing fees for qualifying events, with concessions available across several categories. These include a 10% general membership discount, additional savings for early licence applications and advance payment, as well as other incentives designed to encourage timely compliance and support the continued growth of Tobago's events industry. All benefits are subject to the agreed eligibility and payment conditions and will apply from September 1st, 2026, to August 31st, 2028. All applications, licence assessments and discounts will be processed exclusively by COTT.

Commenting on the partnership, Ms. Kavita Samlalsingh, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Legal Manager of COTT, stated: “COTT is pleased to formalize this important collaboration with the Tobago Promoters Association, reflecting our shared commitment to the continued growth, professionalism and sustainability of Tobago’s creative and entertainment sector. Through greater engagement, education and responsible licensing, this initiative will support promoters in delivering successful events while safeguarding the rights and livelihoods of the creators and performers whose work gives those events their cultural and commercial value."

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Kevon McKenna, President of the Tobago Promoters Association, highlighted the significance of the initiative for Tobago's event promotion community: "This agreement is about making it easier for promoters in Tobago to do what they do best, create world-class events that celebrate our culture and our music. By reducing the barrier of licensing costs for TPA members, we are investing in the industry that keeps our music alive. We encourage promoters to engage early before their events to ensure that all applicable licensing requirements are satisfied.”
