This year the theme of 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 is ‘𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐚𝐢𝐧’. The official International Women’s Day website shared, “Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women's Day impactful. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist reportedly once explained, "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." So make International Women's Day your day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women.”
Today, we salute and celebrate the many women of the world with a special mention of our women at PowerGen who work tirelessly making their own contributions to the success of our organisation. This year, we proudly feature three (3) employees as they share their words of inspiration.

She makes herself an employee of value at PowerGen by looking for ways to add value beyond her basic duties, such as suggesting improvements, solving problems proactively, and being willing to learn new responsibilities. She believes showing her initiative demonstrates dedication and a willingness to grow within the organization.
She encourages women to always act with honesty and strong values. To be reliable, respectful and ethical which will build trust with others as trust is one of the most valuable things you can have in your personal and professional life.

Being directly involved in preventing pollution, managing waste, controlling emissions, and ensuring compliance. Helping preserve air, water and soil quality for future generations. She makes herself an employee of value by practicing competence, reliability, and continuous improvement.
She believes success is less about titles and more about traits. The key behaviours that will shape your journey to success are discipline, integrity and resilience. Staying disciplined in your work, staying grounded in integrity and staying resilient through adversity.

The aspect of her job she enjoys the most is her interaction with all personnel across the company. She makes herself an employee of value at PowerGen by consistently trying to exceed deadlines and expectations. Volunteering for company committees and projects and developing skills to become a "go-to" professional. She focused on building strong, collaborative relationships, taking ownership of results (even her mistakes), and where applicable, proactively streamlining processes to increase efficiency.
She believes in resilience and the understanding that success doesn't come overnight or in a straight line. When failure strikes, consider it a lesson, not the end. Always find courage to stand up after falling and this is what will set a winner apart from the crowd.
