👨🔬 About the Speaker
Professor Song Zhang is a Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He received his Ph.D. from Stony Brook University in 2005. His research spans high-speed 3D imaging, structured light, and machine vision. He has published over 160 journal papers, authored two books, holds nine patents, and has received more than 22,000 citations (h-index 70). He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER Award and a Fellow of ASME, OSA, and SPIE.

Song Zhang教授現任美國普渡大學機械工程系教授,於2005年取得美國紐約州立大學石溪分校(Stony Brook University)博士學位。其研究領域涵蓋高速三維影像、結構光與機器視覺,學術成果豐碩,已發表超過160篇期刊論文、出版2本專書並擁有9項專利,總引用次數超過22,000次(h-index 70)。曾榮獲NSF CAREER Award,並為ASME、OSA及SPIE Fellow。
📌 Abstract
This talk will introduce high-speed 3D imaging technologies and their applications in advanced manufacturing, including:
• Enhancing imaging speed using binary defocusing techniques
• Efficient geometric and image compression for large-scale 3D data
• Automated structured-light systems using electrically tunable lenses (ETL)
• Integrated hardware–software solutions for real-time quality control in additive manufacturing
The talk will also highlight emerging applications in biomedical engineering and forensic science.

本演講將介紹高速三維影像技術及其於先進製造中的應用,包括:
• 利用 binary defocusing 技術提升影像擷取速度
• 發展高效幾何與影像壓縮方法以處理大型三維資料
• 利用電調式透鏡(ETL)實現結構光系統自動化
• 結合軟硬體整合技術,應用於增材製造(AM)之即時品質控制
此外,亦將展示該技術在生醫工程與鑑識科學等領域的應用潛力。
