ITRI has developed an ultra-low-power AI chip that delivers over 10× the energy efficiency of conventional designs. In testing, it reached a world-leading 20,943 TOPS per watt—about twenty times higher than the global average for AI chips.

By rethinking computing from the ground up with Computing-in-Memory architecture, the chip processes data where it’s stored, slashing energy use and enabling real-time AI directly on drones, robots, and smart sensors.

The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) today unveiled its mid- to long-term technology strategy and roadmap, placing collaborative innovation and global partnerships at the core of its vision. The initiative brings together 17 research institutes and 33 universities in southern Taiwan to build an integrated innovation ecosystem, with a focus on emerging sectors including AI, robotics, and unmanned systems.
