Our CEO had the valuable opportunity to visit Ammer Entsorgungs GmbH in Germany as part of an important learning and knowledge exchange on advanced recycling and waste management practices. Founded in 1900, the company has built decades of experience in the recycling and sorting of high-quality paper and plastics, making it an inspiring example of how circular economy systems can operate efficiently at scale.

During the visit, the exchange focused on understanding the company’s operational systems, recycling processes, logistics management, material recovery practices, and the technologies used to improve efficiency within the waste management sector. It was also a great opportunity to learn how innovation, infrastructure investment, and strong environmental policies continue to shape the future of recycling in Europe.

The visit offered practical insights into how sustainable waste management can create economic opportunities while protecting the environment. From large-scale sorting systems to material handling and recycling operations, the experience highlighted the importance of building stronger recycling ecosystems and investing in circular economy solutions that can also inspire future growth and innovation in Africa.

Learning exchanges like these continue to strengthen our vision of transforming waste into opportunity while expanding knowledge, partnerships, and global collaboration in the recycling sector.

Today, Arena Recycling Industry had the privilege of attending a training on plastic waste management at State University of Zanzibar School of Journalism, hosted by YOVIO.

During the session, we had the opportunity to present the IslandPlas Project, implemented by Arena Recycling Industry and funded by IUCN Tanzania. We shared the project’s mission and objectives, particularly our commitment to reducing plastic waste within communities through sustainable waste management, recycling initiatives, and community engagement.

It was inspiring to engage with young professionals and stakeholders who are passionate about environmental sustainability and the circular economy.

The IslandPlas Project in Zanzibar is led by IUCN Tanzania and implemented in partnership with Arena Recycling Industry, with support from The Coca-Cola Foundation.

This Week Arena Recycling Industry is attending Trade Fair IFAT Munich taking place from 03–09 May 2026 in Munich 🇩🇪

Our CEO, has been officially invited by UNIDO ITPO Germany to participate as a Delegate. Through this platform, we will engage in high-level meetings with companies, government representatives, and key institutions, while also taking part in site visits to advanced recycling facilities.

We were truly honored to have our trainer from Mr. Hamis, who delivered an engaging and insightful session on the different types of plastics, their value, and the opportunities they present for income generation. He took participants through practical knowledge on how to identify various plastic materials and understand their market value.

He also emphasized the importance of plastic quality, explaining how factors such as time, handling, and storage can affect its value and recyclability. This helped participants clearly see why proper sorting and care in collection is essential.

Most importantly, he encouraged everyone to shift their mindset urging participants to start seeing plastic not as waste, but as a resource with real economic potential. By collecting, sorting, and selling plastics for recycling, individuals can create sustainable income streams while also contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment.

Last month ,we stood side by side with and partners during the Beach Clean-Up Initiative under the IslandPlas Project in Zanzibar — a moment that reminded us that real change begins at community level. 🌍♻️

As we reflect this Earth Day, we are reminded that protecting our planet is not a one-day commitment — it is a continuous action.

Through the commemoration of Global Recycling Day and the International Day of Zero Waste under the theme “Don’t think waste – Think Opportunity”, we continue to shift the narrative — from waste as a problem to waste as a resource that can create livelihoods, empower communities, and build a circular economy.

At Arena Recycling Industry , we remain committed to ensuring our environment is free from plastic waste by strengthening recovery systems, supporting informal waste actors, and creating opportunities for women and youth to turn waste into value.
