Unique custom solutions at the heart of Dnipro’s iconic facade ✨🏙

Illuminating the skyline of our native Dnipro with the MAYAK residential complex represents a deeply meaningful milestone for our studio. Created in close collaboration with Daytona - Development Company| Житловий комплекс MAYAK, this iconic tower has become an integral part of the city’s architectural character and evening skyline.

The lighting system of the MAYAK space, created by founder and creative director Mykola Kabluka (), demonstrates how light functions not merely as a decorative layer, but as a structural element that harmonizes the interior atmosphere, raw materials, and facade geometry.

Engineering light as an architectural ecosystem:

💡 Kinetic caustic optics: Blown in our proprietary glass studio, the bespoke lobby chandelier refracts light rays to evoke the visual phenomenon of sunlight dancing underwater, washing the lobby interior in fluid, ever-changing caustic reflections.

💡 Articulated natural textures: Targeted directional optics accentuate the raw, tactile surfaces of the artificial rock installation, introducing sculptural depth and dynamic relief into the public lounge.

💡 Circadian dynamic lighting programs: Moving beyond static light, automated dynamic lighting scenarios adjust tone and intensity across the day, orchestrating distinct spatial atmospheres from morning daylight to evening calm.

💡 In-house Ukrainian manufacturing & engineering: All custom lighting elements and proprietary hardware were engineered, prototyped, and manufactured in Ukraine, driven by a dedicated team turning complex concepts into tangible architecture.

When light rouses the human soul in the heart of London ✨🏛️

Illuminating the historic architecture of St Paul’s Cathedral with Soul represents an extraordinary achievement for our studio. As part of the London Design Festival (), Expolight had the privilege of presenting this large-scale generative light installation at a site globally recognized for contemplation and cultural unity.

Conceived by founder and creative director Mykola Kabluka (), Soul gives physical form to that elusive inner light born within each of us when we dream. Grounded in EEG research on cognitive brainwave activity during daydreaming, prayer, and deep focus, our team translated neural rhythms into dynamic geometry, living optics, and sound.

Engineering light as a living system:

🔸 Dynamic caustic optics: High-precision laser beams pass through a custom array of 12 optical glass filters, casting organic patterns across the classical stone façade.
🔸 Continuous metamorphosis: Through the kinetic interaction of light, glass, and space, the visual composition continuously transforms — ensuring no moment is ever repeated.
🔸 Custom-developed software directs the motion of light in real time, orchestrating ever-changing combinations of refraction.
🔸 An acoustic score, tuned to the exact frequencies of brainwave rhythms, unifies sight and sound into a single contemplative space

Following earlier presentations in Lviv, Zurich, and Kyiv, Soul continues its journey in London, offering a space where audiences can connect with a dynamic reflection of human nature, consciousness, and the inner soul.

London served as a vital forum for international dialogue. Engaging with everyday visitors, creative leaders, and public figures beside St Paul’s allowed us to speak for Ukraine through the language of contemporary design and innovation: demonstrating that even under constant threat, we continue to create, build, and firmly assert our place within global culture.

Dynamic Architectural Lighting for Port City Residential Complex in Dnipro

Located directly on the Dnipro River, Апарт-комплекс Port City is defined by a complex façade geometry of multiple planes, projections, horizontal lines, and varying depths.

Our lighting concept emphasizes this architecture after dark through a dynamic façade lighting system with individually programmed zones. Different parts of the building can operate independently in color, intensity, timing, and transition speed, allowing the façade to continuously transform.

Smooth transitions between lighting scenarios create a constantly changing composition, while the dynamic character of the illumination reflects the visual qualities of water and strengthens the connection between the architecture and its riverside location.

The project extends beyond the façade.

For the landscape and pedestrian areas, we developed custom luminaires with a caustic optical effect, creating light patterns on the pavement inspired by reflections on the surface of water.

For the lobby and reception areas, three custom decorative chandeliers were created in collaboration with Nottdesign, forming another layer of the overall lighting identity.

The façade, landscape, and lobby lighting are all integrated into the Expolight Cloud Control System, allowing lighting scenarios, schedules, intensity, and individual zones to be managed remotely from a smartphone from anywhere in the world.

The result is a unified lighting environment where architecture, landscape, custom lighting, dynamic content, and digital control operate as one integrated system.

✨Past Meets Future: Light, Sound, and Memory at the Motherland Monument

Creating "The Future Remembers" meant solving a problem we hadn't faced at this scale before: how light behaves on a mirrored metal surface. We studied that behavior in depth, built prototypes, and constructed a physical 3D model of the monument for laboratory testing before a single frame touched the sculpture itself. The result is the first installation of its kind to combine 3D graphics with a true sense of depth on metal, together with laser graphics projected into the sky — so that the symbols appear to break free of the sculpture and rise above Kyiv itself.

Sound was never an accompaniment here; it was a full part of the scenario. Each core value in the installation carries its own musical composition, synchronized precisely with the light, so the idea reaches the audience not through words, but through experience.

Through light, music, and image, we wanted to tell the story of the Ukrainian journey — our roots, our historical memory, and the connection between generations. What we inherit from those who came before us, what we add to that story today, and what we pass on. Created for Independence Day, the installation explores the relationship between past and future through three parts, each with its own visual language:

🔸Past — the roots and ornaments of ancient cultures;
🔸Transformation — water and metal as images of purification and resilience;
🔸Future — constellations and the flag as symbols of moving forward together.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this possible: Maksym Shkil, founder and CEO of Autostrada, who initiated and sponsored this installation — his trust in the idea and his commitment to Ukrainian art meant a great deal to our team; Міністерство культури України and Strategic Communications, Minister Tetyana Berezhna, and Deputy Minister Tetyana Filevska, for their support at the national level; and the Національний музей історії України у Другій світовій війні. Before the premiere, our founder Микола Каблука had the honor of sharing how this idea came to life — the meaning behind it, and why it mattered to create it at the Motherland Monument itself. It was a privilege to have friends, colleagues, and people who work every day to build Ukraine's culture and art among the audience.

And then came the moment we had been waiting for: "The Future Remembers" finally came to life on the monument. It was genuinely monumental — and we are deeply proud, not only of the scale, but of how precisely we managed to translate the meaning behind this work through light, music, and image

A Wave in Metal 🌊✨: The Signature Chandelier of Azura

Among the defining features of Azura's interior is a custom-designed chandelier, created in collaboration with designer Valerii Kuznetsov as one of the space's central sculptural elements.

The piece is built entirely from metal mesh, dynamically shaped into a flowing, wave-like form. Rather than reading as a rigid metal fixture, the finished silhouette takes on the softness of draped fabric — folds and curves that appear to hang and ripple as though caught mid-motion, suspended just beneath the ceiling. This tension between an industrial material and an organic, textile-like result is central to the design: light passing through the woven mesh diffuses gently across its surface, reinforcing the illusion of pliancy and lending the whole object a sense of weightlessness despite its scale.

The chandelier follows the same biodynamic lighting logic applied throughout Azura: brighter and more energizing during the day to support the rhythm of service, shifting to a warmer, softer glow in the evening that encourages a slower, more relaxed atmosphere — in keeping with the natural rhythms the entire lighting concept is built around.

Positioned as a focal point of the dining room, the chandelier extends the restaurant's broader design narrative — the movement of the sea translated into architectural and material form. Where the facade projection recreates the motion of waves on the exterior, the chandelier brings that same fluidity inside, anchoring the interior's ethnic-inspired, nature-driven aesthetic in a single, sculptural centerpiece.

A New Landmark on the Cyprus Coast: Azura Restaurant

Cyprus is a place we return to again and again — a destination we've come to love for its openness, ease, and distinct atmosphere. It's also where we recently completed the lighting design for Azura, a new contemporary Mediterranean restaurant set directly on the coastline.

The interior concept draws on natural forms, tactile materials, and a sense of calm. Our lighting design was built around this from the outset — enhancing materials, highlighting detail, and shaping the overall mood. Custom caustic light fixtures introduce a soft, fluid quality of light that brings the space to life.

One of the interior's centerpieces is a bespoke chandelier, created in collaboration with designer Valerii Kuznetsov. Constructed from metal mesh, its form and the way it interacts with light give it the appearance of soft fabric suspended beneath the ceiling.

As in all of our projects, Azura's lighting follows biodynamic principles: brighter and more energizing during the day, shifting to a softer, more relaxed tone in the evening — in step with natural human rhythms.

The exterior is defined by a permanent media projection on the facade, recreating the gentle motion of sea waves and reinforcing the restaurant's greatest asset: its location right on the water.

Even in its first days, Azura has drawn a full house on a Monday evening — an early sign of the response the space is generating. We're grateful to the client and partners for their trust and collaboration throughout the project, and we congratulate the entire team on the opening.

A Major Permanent Light Show on One of Georgia's Most Unique Buildings

We're excited to share more about the Kutaisi Technology Hub , which opened in Georgia this week. Expolight designed and built one of the largest permanent 3D mapping installations in the world for this building.

One key feature: we combined architectural lighting and 3D mapping into one system. They work together, so the building looks like a whole, unified piece in every scenario.

This was one of the most technically challenging projects we've done. The building's unusual shape pushed us to come up with new solutions — including four 29-meter sculptural structures that hold the projectors and blend naturally into the architecture.

From the start, we wanted the façade to do more than just play content. So we built different modes — artistic visuals, ambient scenes, and interactive experiences where visitors can engage with the building through an app we developed.

"What I love most is watching an idea slowly become real, until the result matches exactly what we imagined," says Микола Каблука, Founder of Expolight. "And maybe the best part is what stays with you afterward — the experience, and the inspiration for what comes next."

Launch of one of the world's largest permanent 3D mapping projections 🇬🇪

We're proud to announce the opening of one of the most distinctive projects our team has had the privilege to work on — the former Georgian Parliament building, now transformed into the ქუთაისის ტექნოლოგიური ჰაბი • Kutaisi Technology Hub.

This project represented a major creative and technological challenge for our team. Today, it stands as a new symbol of Kutaisi — a space where history, culture, and innovation converge.

We created Georgia's first interactive architectural façade — the largest permanent 3D mapping installation in the region, fully integrated with the building's architectural lighting into a single unified system. This marks an entirely new format of interaction between people, technology, and architecture.

The former Parliament building has been given new life: its surface can now change daily, tell stories, convey meaning, and respond to people through a dedicated interactive application.

After an in-depth exploration of Kutaisi Technology Hub's values and Georgia's national cultural identity, we developed three distinct modes for the building's visual life:

- Everyday artistic imagery
- A large-scale audiovisual show tracing the journey of human development
- An interactive experience allowing visitors to engage with the building through a custom-built application

One of the greatest challenges was the dome's complex architecture. Transforming this vast curved surface into a single digital canvas — where light and imagery precisely follow the building's form — required significant technical innovation. Even the most technical elements were shaped to become part of the overall artistic vision.

A particular highlight of the project: four sculptural structures, each 29 meters tall, custom-designed to conceal the projection equipment. Rather than purely functional installations, they became independent art objects and new landmarks in their own right — their form inspired by the metaphor of growth, reflecting the city's evolution into a center of knowledge, culture, and technology.

We're grateful to our partners — GITA • Tech Park, Kutaisi Technology Hub, and Epson Central Asia — for their trust in this vision and for the shared journey from concept to realization.

Lighting for a restaurant in a large-scale art space 🖼✨

For our team, it is always especially valuable to work on projects within art spaces. Recently, we worked on the lighting for the restaurant GALLERY art of kitchen at Zenyk Art Gallery — a venue with a unique interior and a wealth of sculptural details.

Warm, delicate biodynamic lighting plays an important role in the space, helping to highlight the textures of the materials and create a comfortable experience of the restaurant in the evening. We worked with different levels of light: soft illumination of architectural elements, accent lighting for individual interior details, and localized lighting for the tables. As a result, the interior gains depth, while each zone has its own lighting accent without excessive brightness.

The large sculptural chandeliers beneath the ceiling became a distinct accent. Their soft, rounded forms contrast with the more structured elements of the interior, while the light delicately emphasizes their texture and adds a sense of lightness to the composition. We would like to thank Andrii Asanov and his architectural studio Cтудія архітектури та дизайну ANDRIY ASANOV for the thoughtfully designed interior and attention to detail, which made it possible to work with the light so delicately.

Previously, we had already implemented a whole range of lighting solutions for Zenyk Art Gallery: from architectural facade lighting and a gallery lighting system to a VR room, media art canvases, and special solutions for exhibition projects. That is why the work on the restaurant became another element of the larger lighting system that we are consistently developing within this space.

Special thanks to restaurant owner Oleksandr Bilko and Zinovii Kozytskyi for his trust and for developing Zenyk Art Gallery as an important art space. We would like to thank Anna Iskierdo and AIMM for our collaboration on the gallery facade. And thank you to Mykhailo Lukashuk for the photographs.

Light laboratory at Expolight — a place where ideas meet technology 💫

In our work, it is important to test what we have envisioned before implementing it in a real space. That is why, at the Expolight office, we have a separate floor dedicated to experiments and the preliminary testing of future lighting solutions. Here, we work with lighting scenarios, graphics, projections, and different technical approaches to understand in advance how they will work in a specific space.

One of the most interesting tools in the laboratory is physical-digital models. These are detailed 3D models of real objects onto which we project content and can immediately see how it interacts with the architecture.

For example, we are currently actively working on a large-scale permanent 3D mapping project on the facade of the old Parliament of Georgia in Kutaisi. The unusual geometry of the building requires a particularly careful approach to working with projections, which is why the model allows us to test different content options and check in advance how they will look.

When working with light, not only the overall idea and visual effect matter, but also the precision of every decision. That is why we work through projects in detail at every stage — from the first experiment in the laboratory to the final implementation on site. 🙌🧡
