A Wave in Metal 🌊✨: The Signature Chandelier of Azura

Among the defining features of Azura's interior is a custom-designed chandelier, created in collaboration with designer Valerii Kuznetsov as one of the space's central sculptural elements.

The piece is built entirely from metal mesh, dynamically shaped into a flowing, wave-like form. Rather than reading as a rigid metal fixture, the finished silhouette takes on the softness of draped fabric — folds and curves that appear to hang and ripple as though caught mid-motion, suspended just beneath the ceiling. This tension between an industrial material and an organic, textile-like result is central to the design: light passing through the woven mesh diffuses gently across its surface, reinforcing the illusion of pliancy and lending the whole object a sense of weightlessness despite its scale.

The chandelier follows the same biodynamic lighting logic applied throughout Azura: brighter and more energizing during the day to support the rhythm of service, shifting to a warmer, softer glow in the evening that encourages a slower, more relaxed atmosphere — in keeping with the natural rhythms the entire lighting concept is built around.

Positioned as a focal point of the dining room, the chandelier extends the restaurant's broader design narrative — the movement of the sea translated into architectural and material form. Where the facade projection recreates the motion of waves on the exterior, the chandelier brings that same fluidity inside, anchoring the interior's ethnic-inspired, nature-driven aesthetic in a single, sculptural centerpiece.

A New Landmark on the Cyprus Coast: Azura Restaurant

Cyprus is a place we return to again and again — a destination we've come to love for its openness, ease, and distinct atmosphere. It's also where we recently completed the lighting design for Azura, a new contemporary Mediterranean restaurant set directly on the coastline.

The interior concept draws on natural forms, tactile materials, and a sense of calm. Our lighting design was built around this from the outset — enhancing materials, highlighting detail, and shaping the overall mood. Custom caustic light fixtures introduce a soft, fluid quality of light that brings the space to life.

One of the interior's centerpieces is a bespoke chandelier, created in collaboration with designer Valerii Kuznetsov. Constructed from metal mesh, its form and the way it interacts with light give it the appearance of soft fabric suspended beneath the ceiling.

As in all of our projects, Azura's lighting follows biodynamic principles: brighter and more energizing during the day, shifting to a softer, more relaxed tone in the evening — in step with natural human rhythms.

The exterior is defined by a permanent media projection on the facade, recreating the gentle motion of sea waves and reinforcing the restaurant's greatest asset: its location right on the water.

Even in its first days, Azura has drawn a full house on a Monday evening — an early sign of the response the space is generating. We're grateful to the client and partners for their trust and collaboration throughout the project, and we congratulate the entire team on the opening.

A Major Permanent Light Show on One of Georgia's Most Unique Buildings

We're excited to share more about the Kutaisi Technology Hub , which opened in Georgia this week. Expolight designed and built one of the largest permanent 3D mapping installations in the world for this building.

One key feature: we combined architectural lighting and 3D mapping into one system. They work together, so the building looks like a whole, unified piece in every scenario.

This was one of the most technically challenging projects we've done. The building's unusual shape pushed us to come up with new solutions — including four 29-meter sculptural structures that hold the projectors and blend naturally into the architecture.

From the start, we wanted the façade to do more than just play content. So we built different modes — artistic visuals, ambient scenes, and interactive experiences where visitors can engage with the building through an app we developed.

Launch of one of the world's largest permanent 3D mapping projections 🇬🇪

We're proud to announce the opening of one of the most distinctive projects our team has had the privilege to work on — the former Georgian Parliament building, now transformed into the ქუთაისის ტექნოლოგიური ჰაბი • Kutaisi Technology Hub.

This project represented a major creative and technological challenge for our team. Today, it stands as a new symbol of Kutaisi — a space where history, culture, and innovation converge.

We created Georgia's first interactive architectural façade — the largest permanent 3D mapping installation in the region, fully integrated with the building's architectural lighting into a single unified system. This marks an entirely new format of interaction between people, technology, and architecture.

The former Parliament building has been given new life: its surface can now change daily, tell stories, convey meaning, and respond to people through a dedicated interactive application.

After an in-depth exploration of Kutaisi Technology Hub's values and Georgia's national cultural identity, we developed three distinct modes for the building's visual life:

- Everyday artistic imagery
- A large-scale audiovisual show tracing the journey of human development
- An interactive experience allowing visitors to engage with the building through a custom-built application

One of the greatest challenges was the dome's complex architecture. Transforming this vast curved surface into a single digital canvas — where light and imagery precisely follow the building's form — required significant technical innovation. Even the most technical elements were shaped to become part of the overall artistic vision.

A particular highlight of the project: four sculptural structures, each 29 meters tall, custom-designed to conceal the projection equipment. Rather than purely functional installations, they became independent art objects and new landmarks in their own right — their form inspired by the metaphor of growth, reflecting the city's evolution into a center of knowledge, culture, and technology.

We're grateful to our partners — GITA • Tech Park, Kutaisi Technology Hub, and Epson Central Asia — for their trust in this vision and for the shared journey from concept to realization.

We're especially proud that Ukrainian light design became part of this new symbol for Kutaisi — a further testament that light knows no borders. It has the power to unite cultures, tell stories, and create new symbols for entire cities. ☀️🇺🇦🇬🇪

Lighting for a restaurant in a large-scale art space 🖼✨

For our team, it is always especially valuable to work on projects within art spaces. Recently, we worked on the lighting for the restaurant GALLERY art of kitchen at Zenyk Art Gallery — a venue with a unique interior and a wealth of sculptural details.

Warm, delicate biodynamic lighting plays an important role in the space, helping to highlight the textures of the materials and create a comfortable experience of the restaurant in the evening. We worked with different levels of light: soft illumination of architectural elements, accent lighting for individual interior details, and localized lighting for the tables. As a result, the interior gains depth, while each zone has its own lighting accent without excessive brightness.

The large sculptural chandeliers beneath the ceiling became a distinct accent. Their soft, rounded forms contrast with the more structured elements of the interior, while the light delicately emphasizes their texture and adds a sense of lightness to the composition. We would like to thank Andrii Asanov and his architectural studio Cтудія архітектури та дизайну ANDRIY ASANOV for the thoughtfully designed interior and attention to detail, which made it possible to work with the light so delicately.

Previously, we had already implemented a whole range of lighting solutions for Zenyk Art Gallery: from architectural facade lighting and a gallery lighting system to a VR room, media art canvases, and special solutions for exhibition projects. That is why the work on the restaurant became another element of the larger lighting system that we are consistently developing within this space.

Special thanks to restaurant owner Oleksandr Bilko and Zinovii Kozytskyi for his trust and for developing Zenyk Art Gallery as an important art space. We would like to thank Anna Iskierdo and AIMM for our collaboration on the gallery facade. And thank you to Mykhailo Lukashuk for the photographs.

Light laboratory at Expolight — a place where ideas meet technology 💫

In our work, it is important to test what we have envisioned before implementing it in a real space. That is why, at the Expolight office, we have a separate floor dedicated to experiments and the preliminary testing of future lighting solutions. Here, we work with lighting scenarios, graphics, projections, and different technical approaches to understand in advance how they will work in a specific space.

One of the most interesting tools in the laboratory is physical-digital models. These are detailed 3D models of real objects onto which we project content and can immediately see how it interacts with the architecture.

For example, we are currently actively working on a large-scale permanent 3D mapping project on the facade of the old Parliament of Georgia in Kutaisi. The unusual geometry of the building requires a particularly careful approach to working with projections, which is why the model allows us to test different content options and check in advance how they will look.

When working with light, not only the overall idea and visual effect matter, but also the precision of every decision. That is why we work through projects in detail at every stage — from the first experiment in the laboratory to the final implementation on site. 🙌🧡

Light you can taste 🍭💡

In our lighting projects, we always strive to create solutions that go beyond function and aesthetics by expressing ideas, philosophy, and meaning. We brought the same approach to our corporate merchandise. That's how our lollipop with a light inside came to life—an interactive souvenir that combines two seemingly unrelated things: light and taste.

What makes this lollipop unique is the integrated light element inside. The light can be switched on and off, adding an interactive dimension and turning it into an object people want to explore, try, and share.

For us, it was exciting to bring together two completely different worlds—light, which is at the core of our profession, and taste, which is closely connected with emotion and enjoyment. Together, they create an experience you wouldn't normally expect from a corporate gift.

It is especially rewarding for us to see how this lollipop sparks curiosity, smiles, and positive emotions. That is where we see its greatest value. At the same time, it shows that light can extend beyond architecture and become part of everyday experiences.

With this candy, we wanted to demonstrate how thoughtfully designed corporate merchandise can become an extension of a brand's philosophy and another way to express its values. 🙌

Revealing the character of a Ukrainian restaurant in Warsaw through light 🇵🇱✨

It is always meaningful to work on spaces that continue family traditions and preserve Ukrainian identity, regardless of the country. Sisters restaurant in Warsaw is exactly such a place, and we were responsible for developing and implementing its comprehensive lighting concept.

In this project, light became a tool that helped reveal the main idea of the space — family roots, heritage, and the value of connection between generations. The lighting delicately highlights the architecture, natural materials, and key interior features, creating a cohesive atmosphere. Throughout the day, the lighting adapts to different scenarios, ensuring a comfortable ambiance at any time.

One of the main focal points is the tree — the central symbol of the space. Through light, we emphasized its sculptural form, making it the natural visual centerpiece of the interior. We applied the same approach to the large textured wall, where soft grazing light reveals its rich relief. Caustic lighting effects complete the composition, creating a delicate interplay of light and shadow.

We also paid special attention to the ceiling, which became one of the most expressive elements of the interior. Its woven structure, inspired by intertwining branches, tree canopies, and bird nests, continues the natural concept of the entire space. To emphasize its complex form and layered texture, we used warm light that gently reveals its materiality and adds depth to the structure.

Our sincere thanks to Nina Dodatko for her trust and for the vision of creating a place that continues family traditions and celebrates Ukrainian culture. We also thank Студия дизайна Полины Ильяшенко for the thoughtful and deeply considered interior design, and Ivan Avdeenko photography for the atmospheric photographs that beautifully captured the character of the space and the role of light within it.

For us, this project is another reminder that thoughtful lighting can make the key ideas behind a space even more tangible while delicately emphasizing the architectural vision. 💡✊

Therapeutic Garden Wins the “Creator of the Year 2026” Award! 🌿🏆

The Therapeutic Garden at ВДНГ has won the “Creator of the Year 2026” award Український Будівельний Конгрес in the category “Best Architectural Lighting Project”.

This is a very special project for us because, above all, it carries a mission of light: to help restore the physical, psychological, and social well-being of veterans and the citizens of Ukraine through interaction with nature, the body, and creativity.

The project was implemented by VDNG together with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs Мінветеранів as part of the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine, initiated by the First Lady Олена Зеленська.

That is why it was a great responsibility for us to create lighting for this place that would enhance the power of natural therapy and its meditative atmosphere.

We deliberately selected soft natural light spectra, close to the rays of the setting sun, as they are the most beneficial for emotional and physiological relaxation.

It is a finely tuned interplay of light and shadow created by the trees, a carefully designed sense of depth and layered perception achieved through a variety of custom luminaires mounted on poles, as well as in-ground luminaires with specially selected LEDs chosen according to key parameters and designed with the possibility of future recalibration.

As a result, we created a holistic lighting system consisting of dozens of optical distributions, color temperatures, and beam angles, working together as a therapeutic tool built on the balance of science, technology, and nature.

For us, this award is a recognition of many years of research into the impact of light on people and confirmation that lighting design can become an integral part of spaces created for recovery and care.

And we believe that the Therapeutic Garden will become the beginning of a new trend of creating such spaces throughout Ukraine.

We created a large-scale 3D video mapping projection to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States 🇺🇸

We recently joined in the celebration of U.S. Independence Day—a holiday honoring our allies and partners.

To mark this occasion, we staged a 3D projection at one of Kyiv’s most iconic locations. Using video mapping technology, we created a dynamic light show that combined elements of American highlighting our values of freedom and unity.

The project was made possible thanks to the seamless collaboration of our partners, who provided the venue and supported the idea. The light installation ran throughout the evening, capturing the attention of residents and visitors alike and serving as a reminder of the strength of the partnership between our countries.

We would like to thank Укрзалізниця - Ukrzaliznytsia and Oleksandr Pertsovskyi for their cooperation in bringing this project to life in such a symbolic location. Special thanks go to the U.S. Embassy Kyiv Ukraine for a partnership rooted in shared values.
