Responsible water use is of high priority for Ferrexpo during production and we aim to maximise water recycling and minimise extraction in areas where possible.

Thanks to a closed production cycle, we recycle 98% of water we use during production. The water to be returned back to the natural environment undergoes a high-quality purification process. We continue to reduce the amount of water used in production, because care for the environment is a top strategic issue for Ferrexpo.

"My dream is that employees here are so happy that no one would even contemplate looking for a job abroad" says Yuliia Teplyk, a chemical analysis laboratory technician at Ferrexpo Poltava Mining.

Currently, about 9 million Ukrainians are looking for work abroad following Russia's invasion.

Yuliia has worked at FPM for 5 years now. After graduation from technical school, Yuliia applied for a job at Ferrexpo. When she joined she was given on-the-job training and is now a valuable member of the lab team.

However, Yuliia does not plan to stop there — she wants to get a higher education and move up the career ladder.

We are proud of our ambitious employees like Yuliya that continue to contribute to the Ukrainian economy, leading by example for the younger generation and women in the mining industry.

Modern mining industry is no longer an exclusive male territory. Women are increasing their presence and contribution to this important sector of Ukrainian economy and we are sure that Ferrexpo can serve as an example of supporting women’s ambition to develop and grow in their careers.

In the course of more than four years of implementing an equality, diversity and inclusion policy, Ferrexpo has built a strong corporate culture where equal opportunities are an integral part of everyone’s success. Over the past three years alone, we managed to increase the number of women in management positions by 60%! In addition, several men in the company have already taken the opportunity to use their option of «male» maternity leave.

There is still a lot of work ahead, but the foundations for change have already been laid.

Ferrexpo actively engages with significant sports events, offering its unwavering support to both organisers and participants. Last weekend Ferrexpo sponsored the All-Ukrainian Fitness Challenge Championship which took place in Poltava, featuring veterans and those serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Athletes showcased their skills in various physical activities, including pull-ups, bench jumps, dumbbell burpees, barbell lunges, air bike exercises, and weighted presses. We firmly believe that backing such initiatives not only fosters physical fitness but also aids the rehabilitation of those who defend Ukraine with a positive impact on their well-being.

For 7 years, the Class of Ferrexpo project has been running at a high school in Horishni Plavni, allowing gifted students to delve deeper into scientific and mathematical subjects. Throughout their studies, students visit the company's production facilities, learn vital teamwork skills, communicate with professionals from various fields, and participate in volunteer activities that help develop their leadership abilities.

The project results have been impressive, with over 200 students joining the Class of Ferrexpo over the years. Graduates have achieved some of the best results in the region, winning numerous Olympiads and excelling in their final exams.

We are excited to see more young people opting for technical and STEM careers, and we will continue to support them on their journey.

Ferrexpo is about people above all, and our common humanity shines through most of all when we help others.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, our colleague Inna Gupalo, like hundreds of other Ferrexpo employees, has been trying to make every effort to help people affected by the war.
Since the age of eight, despite the absence of one kidney, Inna has been swimming professionally and has achieved considerable success in this sport. Her achievements demonstrate that disability cannot be an obstacle to success. We are proud of Inna and hundreds of our colleagues with disabilities who contribute to the well-being and stability of Ukraine by working at Ferrexpo.

Congratulations to the Ukrainian national team on their success at the European Dragon Boat Racing Championship, which took place in the Italian city of Ravenna this September. We’re incredibly proud that Kyrylo Lazarenko, Ihor Amelchenya, Vasyl Chesnokov, Serhiy Gurin and Oleksandr Fedorenko - five Ferrexpo employees – were part of the winning team.

Approximately 3,000 participants competed in the Championship from a total of 124 teams. Against such steep competition, members of our national team won a total of 24 medals!

At Ferrexpo, we continue to support our employees in their aspirations and their high performance, both at work and in sports.

Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Remaining steadfast during times of war is a daunting challenge, but it is still achievable, as exemplified by Mykola Filonenko, an employee of one of Ferrexpo's subsidiaries in Ukraine. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Mykola stood up for Ukraine. During the rescue of a fellow soldier, Mykola was injured and, as a result, lost a limb.

At the time, it might have seemed that his dream of driving a car would now be impossible. Mykola didn't give up on his dream. With the help of his family, friends, colleagues, and charitable organisations, he received a prosthetic and underwent rehabilitation. Eventually, he earned his driver's license and transitioned into a new profession.

Mykola's perseverance is a personal example of the Ukrainian resilience and unwavering spirit. We are proud of him and his bravery and honoured to contribute to his success. In April 2023, we allocated US$1 million to expand the Veterans Rehabilitation Program, recognised as the best in Ukraine.

Congratulations to the rowers of Hirnyk club! Volodymyr Zelesnkyy, the President of Ukraine, recently met Liudmyla Luzan, Oleh Kukharyk and Ihor Trunov to recognise and celebrate their achievements at the 3rd European Games which took place in Krakow.

The three athletes, who were trained by the talented coach Mykola Matsapura, won a total of five awards for Ukraine - three golds and two silvers - and showed incredible strength and ability during the games.

The characteristics that are essential to athletes, such as determination, discipline and resilience, underpin our strength as a country too. This is why Ferrexpo has been supporting the development of sports in Ukraine for many years. The Hirnyk club, which trains on the Dnipro River, is among the clubs that we support and has been highlighted as the best rowing education and training centre in Ukraine.
