One day in the life of young woman in science
🇺🇦 Every morning begins with a prayer for Ukraine and its defenders, followed by a glass of warm water and a workout to spark the day's energy. Before the world of high-level economics takes over, Yuliia embraces the vital "little things" of motherhood—making breakfast and creating warmth at home.
Meet Yuliia Chaliuk — Doctor of Economics and Professor at the Department of Economic Theory, Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (KNEU). 📈 While she loves the focus of working in silence with a cup of tea, the reality of recent years has made her incredibly flexible. From quiet cafes with generators to underground parking lots during air raids, Yuliia’s research continues no matter where she is forced to hide.
"The ultimate goal is nothing, movement is everything," — Yuliia shares, echoing her philosophy of continuous progress and resilience.
Her daily professional ritual involves deep-diving into statistics from international organizations and official Ukrainian sources for 1–2 hours, turning raw data into meaningful economic analysis. 📊💻
To recharge, Yuliia turns to the arts and nature. Whether she is practicing vocals, creating intricate beadwork, or taking long walks in the park, these moments of self-development provide the balance needed for her intense academic career. 🎤✨
✨ Yuliia is candid about the "glass ceiling" that still exists in science, where women are often expected to be assistants rather than leaders. By holding a senior professorship and conducting vital research, she is actively breaking those barriers and proving that a woman’s place is at the forefront of leadership and management.
