Today we concluded the four day sensitization workshop on mining and minerals legal framework. The Commissioner/ Mines Department closed the workshop on behalf of the State Minister for Minerals. We would like to thank everyone for participating physically and virtually. In a special way, we thank our sponsors; GIZ, PlanetGold Uganda for making this workshop possible. We also thank ICGLR and Financial intelligence authority for being part of the sensitization to ensure compliance. Thank you Mines Department team for organising the workshop. Day 2: of the sensitization workshop on mining and minerals legal framework. The scope of topics presented surrounded the Regional Certification Mechanism ( RCM) being introduced by ICGLR ( International Conference on Great Lakes Region). Members were informed that the certificate is free and it's being introduced to track the movement of designated minerals (3Ts and Gold). This will help to reduce the illegal exploitation of natural resources within the region.
