The typical minimum depth is often cited as 8 feet, but several factors directly influence the actual depth required, including soil composition, moisture content,
and local environmental conditions.

Here's what most installations overlook:
Soil type changes everything. Low-resistivity soil such as moist clay is ideal for grounding because it provides a low-resistance path to earth. High-resistivity soil such as rocky or sandy soil requires longer rods, multiple rods, or additional grounding techniques.

Seasonal moisture matters. Moist or wet soils offer lower resistance to electrical flow meaning a rod that performs well in the rainy season may fail dangerously in the dry season if depth wasn't accounted for from the start.
