23rd July 2026 marked another important milestone in EACOPโ€™s Social Economic Investment programme as EACOP, together with the Buganda Kingdom, officially broke ground on the construction of the Kabaka Daudi Chwa II EACOP Stadium Buddu in Masaka City.

The stadium is part of EACOPโ€™s youth empowerment initiatives, which focus on creating opportunities for communities along the pipeline route. The Buganda Kingdom has provided 10 acres of land for the project, while EACOP is contributing towards the construction of the facility.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, the Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, officially named the facility the Kabaka Daudi Chwa II EACOP Stadium Buddu, in recognition of the partnership between EACOP and the Buganda Kingdom and the shared vision of supporting community development through sports.

When completed, the sports centre will provide a space where young people can develop their sporting talents, improve their wellbeing, and participate in activities that bring communities together.

Speaking at the ceremony, our Deputy MD. John B. Habumugisha said the project demonstrates EACOPโ€™s commitment to creating lasting benefits beyond the pipeline itself. - โ€œThis groundbreaking ceremony reflects our long-term commitment to advancing sustainability and socio-economic development. By supporting the sports centre, we are investing in initiatives that will deliver lasting value for communities in which we operate.โ€

The Katikkiro of Buganda, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, welcomed the partnership with EACOP, noting that initiatives such as the stadium contribute to youth empowerment and create opportunities for communities.

The EACOP project passes through seven districts within the Buganda Kingdom, reaching 130 villages across four counties. Investments such as the Kabaka Daudi Chwa II EACOP Stadium Buddu are part of EACOPโ€™s broader commitment to supporting sustainable community development alongside the delivery of the pipeline project.
