Subject: A Statement on Matters of Doctrine from the Association of Professional Anglicans International
Your Graces, Right Reverends, Reverends, Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The Association of Professional Anglicans International (APAI) wishes to make its position clear on two significant matters of doctrine and practice within our Communion.
Firstly, on the Ordination of Women:
After prayerful consideration, theological reflection, and a commitment to the guiding principles of faith and reason, we wish to state unequivocally: The Association of Professional Anglicans International is not against the ordination of women.
We believe that the Holy Spirit calls and equips individuals for ministry based on their gifts, faith, and character, not on distinctions of gender. We affirm the sacred worth and equal value of all people in the sight of God, and we recognize the profound contributions that women have made, and continue to make, at every level of the Church's life and mission. To restrict the movement of the Spirit based on gender is, in our view, to overlook a great reservoir of theological insight, pastoral skill, and prophetic leadership that women offer to the Body of Christ.
Secondly, on Marriage and the Authority of Scripture:
In the same spirit of upholding the doctrines of our faith,we must state with equal clarity that we are against the practice of same-sex marriages and the disrespect of the Holy Scriptures.
We affirm the traditional Christian doctrine of marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, as historically understood by the Church and witnessed to in Scripture. Furthermore, we stand firmly against any theological or cultural trend that leads to the disrespect, dismissal, or deliberate misinterpretation of the Holy Scriptures. The Bible,
