Kyburz Construction began when young R.N.

For all your future construction needs, please visit Henry Carlson Construction, who is handling all of our current business. Kyburz came to Aberdeen, South Dakota from Wisconsin after World War I. Kyburz was a skilled carpenter who needed someone with a business background to help the company grow. His son-in-law, Cliff Hurlbert, joined him after World War II and the company gradually grew by spe

cializing in commercial construction. The end of another war, Vietnam, brought Cliff’s three sons to the business and it continued to expend and became synonymous with superior quality and trusted business relationships. The Henry Carlson Company joined Kyburz Construction, Inc. in 1985 to form Kyburz-Carlson Construction. At that time, Kyburz-Carlson was principally owned by Hollis Hurlbert and Henry Carlson Jr. Merging the expertise of the two firms created a reputable company that is a leader within the regional construction industry. Henry’s son, Henry “Chip” Carlson, III, is now the sole owner of Kyburz-Carlson Construction.

Congratulations to Jaxon Ladner!

Last Thursday, Jennifer Law presented a $1,000 Kyburz-Carlson Building/Construction Trades Scholarship to Central High School senior, Jaxon Ladner.

This scholarship, funded by Kyburz-Carlson Construction Company, supports students planning to pursue post-secondary education in the building and construction trades.

We wish Jaxon the best as he takes the next step in his construction career journey!

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our friend and colleague, Dave Lems. Dave was not only a dedicated Corporate Safety & Risk Manager at Henry Carlson Construction, but also a hardworking, kind and generous person who made a lasting impact on those around him.

Beyond his work, Dave had a passion for racing, building things (including our incredible grill trailer that we use at jobsites) and helping others. His knowledge, humor and friendship will be deeply missed by all of us.

Our thoughts are with his wife, Erin, his family and his many friends during this difficult time. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at a later date.
