Welcome to our first Lufco Intern Spotlight! Get to know Joshua Olinger, one of our incredible engineering interns through a quick Q&A about his journey from the classroom to our team, his ultimate dream job, and his goals on the golf course.
🔷 Where do you go to school, what are you studying, and what made you choose that major?
"I am a junior at Liberty University studying mechanical engineering. I chose mechanical engineering because I developed an interest in how things work early on in my life. My true passion is aerodynamics, but I wanted to keep my education general enough to understand the basics of engineering."
🔷 What first drew you to LufCo, and what has been your favorite part of the company culture so far?
"LufCo interested me because it is a rapidly expanding company that is transitioning to full-scale work. LufCo is no longer just a software company; they are beginning to blur the lines between engineering disciplines. My favorite part about the culture is the tight-knit community. Everyone knows everyone, and the employees are not afraid to show their personalities."
🔷What has surprised you the most about transitioning from the classroom to working at LufCo?
"At LufCo, my workday is far less structured than my class schedule. I have the freedom to work on my own, with my mentor, or with the other interns."
🔷Looking ahead, what is your ultimate "dream job"?
"My dream job would be working for either the Air Force or NASA in some type of flight dynamics position."
🔷When you aren’t studying or working at LufCo, what do you like to do for fun?
"I enjoy playing sports, especially disc golf."
🔷If you could instantly master any new skill (professional or just for fun) overnight, what would it be?
"I would love to master the game of golf (honestly just break 90).'
Josh, we're thrilled to welcome you to the team and look forward to a great summer ahead!
