OUTAGE Elma

UPDATE 11:13am Crews have rehung downed wire, completed repairs, and restored power in Elma.

UPDATE 10:16am Power out to 2300 customers in Elma, from Satsop east to downtown Elma, Strawberry Hill and surrounding areas. Crews are beginning repairs, which will include rehanging a downed wire. Partial restorations are possible as repairs are made, but there is no estimated time for full restoration.

Damaged equipment has caused an outage impacting 322 customers in West Elma, reaching as far west as the Satsop River. Crews are in route and may have to turn power off to a larger area to complete repairs.

UPDATE 11:09am Power has been restored in downtown Montesano.

Crews are responding to an outage impacting around 80 customers in Montesano. The outage area is River and South River St, Pioneer Ave, and surrounding areas. There is no estimated time of restoration.

"When you consider that this summer our country will celebrate its 250th birthday, the 96 years that Washington PUD’s have been around makes us relatively young. In Grays Harbor, the idea of publicly run utilities is even younger as 2026 marks our 86th year of service. State policy should permit new natural gas peaking capacity as a bridge until clean firm technologies are commercially mature. It should align the pace of building and transportation electrification mandates with the rate at which clean firm generation and transmission can be built.

The answer in the Pacific Northwest is not all electric or all gas. It is a smarter, better-integrated combination of both.
