This is all of the technicians, helpers and runners that worked the 25th Anniversary of our Heat the Town event this year. Everyone had breakfast burritos, lots of great door prizes and new t-shirts. We serviced 70 homes this year and like every year, we saved the life of a family when our tech discovered their unit was pumping out too much carbon monoxide. Saving lives and helping people who couldn't afford our services otherwise is what this is all about.

The 25th Annual Heat the Town is this Saturday. We will meet at United Refrigeration at 7am for breakfast burritos and there will be lots of door prizes for everyone attending. We will head out at 8am to service 69 homes for the elderly and disabled to make sure they have safe Heating this winter. This is our 25th consecutive year to do this. Even COVID didn't stop us. See you Saturday!!

Acuity Insuance in Wisconsin boasts the World's Tallest Symbol of Freedom. The flagpole is located on Acuity's campus along I-43 between Green Bay and Milwaukee. The 400ft flagpole is 100ft taller than the Statue of Liberty and weighs approx. 420,000 lbs. It is designed to withstand -41° temps and 120mph winds. Three pendulum style tuned mass dampers reduce movement and vibrations. There is a rotating section at the top that rotates with the wind so the flag is always blowing outward. The flag itself is 70ft x 140ft and weighs 250lbs. You can see in the picture the number of people required to carry the flag. The flag is taken down at the first sign of wear and a professional seamstress uses an industrial-grade sewing machine kept at Acuity to make repairs. The flag is only taken down to make repairs or during severe weather. It will also be lowered to half-staff during official observances. A Veterans Memorial at the base of the flagpole features the names of Sheboygan County residents killed in active duty, going all the way back to the Civil War. There are more than 750 inscribed pavers intentionally placed in the shape of a teardrop. They encourage you to come see the flag any time you like. Our 24th Annual Heat the Town is coming up Saturday, Oct 26. We will meet at United Refrigeration at 7am for pork butt burritos, new HTT t- shirts and door prizes. We will head out at 8am to check the heaters of the elderly and less fortunate. We should finish up around 12 or 1pm. We can use all the techs and trucks we can get so even if you haven't signed up, come on out. No one needs to perish from carbon monoxide if we can help it!!

Chapter Meeting will be at Albarran's on Milwaukee at 11:30 am tomorrow Jan 18. Meeting will begin at noon. Speakers are from T6 West Texas. They training service dogs for veterans.
