your pH level directly effects how well the chlorine in your pool can do its job. when pH is too high, chlorine becomes much less effective at sanitizing your water. When it's too low, the water can become corrosive, potentially damaging equipment as well as irritating skin and eyes. Keeping your pool's pH between 7.2-7.6 is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable pool.
