Most seal failures start before the seal ever “fails.”

Heat. Solids in the stuffing box. Bad flush. Shaft movement. Contamination in the bearings. Those are the problems. The leaking seal is just the evidence.

That is why SEPCO does not treat every pump the same. Air seals for the applications that destroy contact faces. Packing when packing is the right answer. Bearing isolators when leakage is taking out the other end of the pump.

Check the conditions. Then choose the product that matches them.

🔧 Tuesday Tip: Perfect alignment. New bearings. New seal. Still leaking in three months?

Check the shaft runout. A bent shaft or worn sleeve wobbles your seal faces open and closed on every revolution — and no laser alignment will ever catch it. Two minutes with a dial indicator before reassembly tells you the truth: if the needle sweeps, fix the shaft, not the seal.

Tag the tech who checks runout before the pump goes back together. That's the good stuff. 🎯
