More than 1,000 people showed up to celebrate a project groundbreaking: the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) Healdsburg Extension.

Nine miles of new track, a new station, and a North Bay community that has been waiting on this for a long time. There’s a train coming to town, and we get to be the ones who build it.

The SMART Healdsburg extension is one of those projects that reminds us why this work matters.

Week, done. Safety, always. The habit doesn't stop on Friday. Bring on the next week.

RESPECT is how we work -> Follow the plan, speak up, use Stop Work Authority, and if conditions change, stop and replan. Every person on the team plays a role in that.

One of our project managers put it into perspective: "Some people might say a project is successful if it's just finished on time or on budget. And yeah, that's part of it. We'll all get there eventually. But what really matters is how we get there. The way a team works together, how problems are handled, and the respect shown to the people in the field, the community, and among teammates is what drives real success."

That's the standard we hold ourselves to. It's also why we created CREW360 — to make sure everybody has a voice when it comes to safety🦺.

When each team member feels responsible for identifying risks and taking corrective action, that's when a real culture of accountability takes hold.

There is something special about walking into a conference knowing it was meant for you: a woman in transportation.

The WTS International Annual Conference theme was "Leading the Way".

We took that literally.

Jennifer DeLong led attendees on the Sixth Street Viaduct tour, one of LA's most talked about civic structures - and a bridge we built and know well.

Regan Heineke, Kathryn La Chapelle, Noemy Sanchez, and Bhanu Karuturi, represented the best of what this industry has to offer.

Falls are preventable.

Construction Safety Week Day 3's theme -> STAND DOWN TO PREVENT FALLS. Use protection correctly, every time. No shortcuts, no exceptions. It's one of the most important things we can reinforce as a team, and this week gives us a dedicated moment to say it out loud.

May 4–8, we're reflecting on the commitment that shows up on every jobsite and in every office.

Stretch, flex, recognize, and be ready to RESPOND. ✅

Don't wait for something to go wrong. Eliminate, reduce, or isolate hazards through planning before work begins.

The theme for Day 2 of Construction Safety Week is -> RESPOND. May 4–8, we're reflecting on the commitment that shows up on every jobsite and in every office.

We start the day by recognizing. ✅

Project Manager, Nick Slama, and the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) Healdsburg Extension crew gathered first thing to talk through the day's activities and spot the S**t That Can Kill You (STCKY) before work ever begins.

May 4–8, we're reflecting on the commitment that shows up on every jobsite and in every office.

The theme for Day 1 of Construction Safety Week -> RECOGNIZE. Spot high-energy hazards early, communicate clearly, and protect your crew.
