This week, we welcomed the Ravena Innovation Station students and their parents to the Port of Coeymans for a tour and a front-row look at the launch of the Mackenzie Rose tugboat into the Hudson River.

Innovation Station is a STEM, robotics, and computer programming center serving students in grades K–12. During their visit, the students got to see a real-world application of the engineering and programming concepts they use in programs like FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST LEGO League.

The highlight of the visit was seeing our 820 MT Marine Travelift in action. Operated by a wireless remote control, the Travelift carefully lowered the Mackenzie Rose into the river. Students even had the opportunity to get an up-close look at the controls and take a turn operating the slings themselves!

We love giving the next generation of STEM professionals the opportunity to see how the skills they’re learning in the classroom are used in the real world! ⚙️

Big lifts require big planning, and this one marked a major milestone for Carver Marine Steel Works.

We recently hauled the 102-foot, 4,500-horsepower Mackenzie Rose, making her the largest and heaviest ocean-going tug ever handled at our facility.

Working alongside our friends at JMS Naval Architects, we developed a specialized lifting arrangement that combined CMSW’s new lift frame with traditional Travelift straps, allowing the vessel’s weight to be distributed across all four block sets.

From planning to ex*****on, this complex lift required precision and teamwork, showcasing CMSW’s expanded hauling capabilities and innovative approach to marine solutions.

Two years ago today, our team completed the 351-mile journey through the historic Erie Canal, delivering the Ralph Wilson Park Conservancy Bridge to its permanent home in Buffalo, NY. The voyage required months of planning, coordination, and the expertise of our marine crews to safely navigate locks, bridges, and waterways along one of America's most historic transportation routes.

What a great weekend celebrating America's 250th Anniversary with the Ravena and Coeymans community! 🇺🇸

From our restored tugboat float making its way through the parade to spending the day connecting with neighbors at Coeymans Landing Park, we were proud to be part of this special celebration.

To cap off the festivities, Carver Marine Towing and the Port of Coeymans provided tug and barge services for the spectacular fireworks display over the Hudson River. 🎇

Yesterday, we welcomed the SUNY Maritime College's Empire State VII to New York's Capital Region as the vessel made her way past the Port of Coeymans before arriving at the Port of Albany.

As SUNY Maritime's state-of-the-art training vessel, the Empire State VII represents the future of the maritime industry and the next generation of maritime leaders. Watching cadets begin their training aboard this ship is a reminder of the importance of investing in the workforce that will keep our ports, waterways, and supply chains moving.

We look forward to connecting with cadets, alumni, and industry professionals tonight at the New York Capital Region Chapter Reception during the Tri-City ValleyCats game. Carver Companies is proud to have supported America's 250th Anniversary celebration in New York Harbor over the Fourth of July weekend.

Our tugboats Caroline M and Erin Elizabeth delivered deck barges to the USS Nimitz, the U.S. Navy's oldest and longest-serving aircraft carrier, while Helen, Daisy Mae, and Mister Jim assisted in welcoming vessels from allied and partner nations for International Naval Review (INR) 250.

We're honored to have contributed to the largest maritime event in U.S. history while celebrating 250 years of American independence and showcasing the strength of our nation's maritime industry. 🇺🇸
