Yesterday was the launch of what our team is calling production 2.0! Production 2.0 is an initiative spearheaded by our engineering team to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of our production shop layout and systems.
The current layout has worked well for us for several years. However, as we have continued to grow and expand our capabilities and team, the space has become cramped, and we started to notice a growing lack of visibility and definitions for material flow.
The new space has been designed to eliminate waste and allow everyone to find continuous improvement in both small and large ways. The new layout is much more open and has been separated into different flexible production lines, this allows more visibility on the status of any given build, helps us quickly identify and eliminate waste, and allows space to scale as we continue to grow and add people.
Additionally, there has been a wide array of other work the engineering team has completed to support the production team. Including optimizing the schedule, creating a new system for quickly documenting prosses, creating and documenting new training pipelines, and creating tool kits for each member of production.
Big thanks to Robert Nicol, Greyson Clum, Kyle Kohl, Garrett Palahniuk, Jenna Jette, Brandon Canedo, Oliver Tipping, and Danny Gullerud for the work they have put in so far, and for the work that will continue to ensure this space becomes even more effective in the future!
Also, thank you to Robert Nicol for making awesome cookies shaped like our logo for the team to enjoy during the announcement meeting.
