Great words from Parker Maxwell: Last week, I finished up my 2nd summer with Tennessee Machine Tool Supply as an operations intern. I got to greatly expand my understanding of industrial supply distribution channels due to the amount of responsibility I was given this summer. I got to spend a big chunk of my time working outside the office at our customers who are apart of our Vendor Managed Inventory program. Being around large industrial manufacturers in a variety of industries from automotive, aerospace, and fi****ms, to industrial seals and chains gave me great insight into how different industries manufacturing processes and practices differ and are alike; as well as what kind of products these manufacturers typically use. On site at these manufacturers, I would either be installing or restocking a tool vending machine, performing a physical inventory count for the customer, or sitting in to participate in meetings and quarterly reviews with management.
On the days I spent at the office I spent the majority of my time reporting the status of our upstream operations to our downstream customers and end users of our products, preparing the vending software database for vending machine installation, or researching potential ERP system upgrades for the ownership of the company - which I got to present at the end of the summer.
I got to learn so much this summer and had a blast doing it. I am going to be staying on part-time at TMT during the school year to assist with projects and on-site assistance with outside sales and the vending team! Looking forward to what the year brings!
Parker, we love being apart of your journey and your continuous growth and improvement!!!! Thank you for all you do!
