If you have a heat pump, this is what we recommend our customers do during the storm! Stay warm, and call us if you are without heat!
❄️ ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️🌨️😬😁😬⛄️⛄️🌨️
If you notice ice building up on your unit, this is what you should do:
❎
• Turn the system OFF
• Switch the thermostat to Emergency / Auxiliary Heat until the ice melts
• Let the outdoor unit defrost naturally
• Clear snow and debris from around the unit
• Call for service if the ice comes back
❌ What not to do:
• Don’t pour water on the unit — this only removes surface ice. Ice remains packed inside the coil fins, and the added water will quickly refreeze, making the problem worse
• Don’t chip or break the ice
• Don’t keep the system running in normal heat mode
• Don’t ignore solid ice buildup
This is just meant to help prevent unnecessary repairs and keep everyone safe and warm during the storm. Hope this helps someone out!
Stay warm and stay safe, neighbors. ❄️♥️🙏🏻
