As you all know, this week is the Jim Wells County Show! We’ve been receiving buyers’ letters over the past couple of weeks, and today the kids and I started opening and reading them.

If you have a child showing this week, it’s not too late to send us their letter. As long as we receive it by Thursday, we’ll support them by either purchasing their project or making an add-on. A handwritten letter can go a long way! Send us a message and we will send you our address.

Thank you to our customers and team for making this possible. We’re proud to support our community—not only with ranch projects, but at the stock shows, too!

Here is a little preview of our current project. We are not fans of working with wood but due to the location of this project it’s probably the best material to give this investment longevity. What started as a project for some students at the kingranchinstitute is now becoming a reality. This project has been almost a year in the making, lots of planning, mobilization of equipment and personnel, logistics for our guys, ordering of material, site preparation, and scheduling of deliveries, this week we started putting post in the ground.

While we were in Webb County stacking brush, we received a call from a nearby ranch. The owner reported that someone had cleared some roads and created new senderos, but they left behind numerous sticks and roots from the black brush, which was causing frequent flat tires. We decided to move one of our dozers to that location and thoroughly cleaned up the roads, leaving them in good condition.

It's important to note that just because a company has a dozer doesn't mean it’s the right size for every job. In South Texas, black brush is one of the toughest types of vegetation to manage, and it often requires a heavy dozer. If you opt for a lighter machine, you might find those dozer hours adding up quickly. Choosing the cheaper option isn’t always the best approach; sometimes paying that higher hourly rate comes out cheaper in the long run.

Our canvass for the next couple of days will cover the final 34 acres of this 110-acre project. Just as we were starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it dimmed a bit when the landowner requested an additional 8-acre area.

This project began as 80 acres, but the owner was so pleased with our progress and results that he added another 22 acres. With this latest addition, we will have treated 110 acres by stacking and raking brush to improve quail habitat.

All I can say is that the guys have been busy plowing and seeding! It all about meeting the customers deadlines! Here is a little video of our plow in action.
