An 88’ x 60’ sports court completed today for Arts Projects in Byron Center. This project required extensive site preparation, including the relocation of a significant amount of soil, and more than 250 yards of sand. All fill material was placed and compacted in 6” lifts to ensure proper density and long-term stability of the slab.

Our crews had three skid steers and multiple dump trucks operating continuously for a full day to keep the project on schedule. The court carries approximately 11” of fall from one end to the other to ensure proper drainage. Due to the existing grade conditions, the north side of the slab sits roughly 4’ below surrounding grade, while the south side is approximately 5’ above grade. Future phases of the project include the construction of a retaining wall along the north side and complete regrading and reshaping of the south yard area.

Another large-scale project completed with a strong focus on preparation, compaction, drainage, and long-term performance.

Another successful patio installation completed today in Byron Center. This project featured a dedicated hot tub pad near the home, constructed at 6” thick with a perfectly level finish to properly support the additional weight. The remaining patio area was poured at 4” thick and carefully graded to direct water away from the foundation and into the yard for proper drainage.

Using a 1% non-corrosive accelerator along with precision tooled control joints, our crew was able to complete the entire project efficiently in just 6 hours from start to finish while maintaining the quality and attention to detail our customers expect from Cole Concrete LLC.

Every year, we at Cole Concrete donate a complimentary 5 yard patio project to honor a local veteran. Last summer, while attending a township board meeting, I heard our local township discussing plans for a veterans memorial. Instantly, I knew this year’s donation needed to go towards that project.

Being able to contribute something meaningful in honor of our local veterans is truly special, and the fact that it’s for our own township makes this project even more rewarding for our team.

We recently completed a 40-foot diameter patio featuring black color hardener borders stamped with Monster Slate. This is only the beginning of what will become a beautiful memorial space for the community.

Next, we will be constructing a 65-linear-foot seat wall, followed by the creation and engraving of two custom monument pieces, one standing 6 feet tall by 3 feet wide, and another 3 feet tall by 18 inches wide. The monuments will feature polished black concrete with a natural stone edge detail surrounding each piece.

I’d also like to extend a sincere thank you to Consumers Concrete for their material donation, Cascade Cement Pumping for generously donating the concrete pump service, and Decorative Concrete Resources for donating the color hardener used on this project. Support from local companies like these helps make projects honoring our veterans possible.

Our crew arrived on site at 8:00 AM, set and prepared the footing forms, and had concrete poured by 9:00 AM. To help accelerate the curing process and maintain the schedule, we incorporated 2% calcium chloride into the mix, ensuring the footing reached the strength needed for wall installation.

By 11:30 AM, we began setting wall panels, and by 3:00 PM the foundation walls were fully installed and completed. Efficient scheduling, preparation, and ex*****on allowed us to complete the entire operation in a single day.
