This month's focus word is: Success
In personal life, at work, in all the decisions you make, in the way you manage yourself: success is present in everything, and it becomes almost one of the only engines that move us!

How to be successful in life
1- Interact with others effectively – know how to relate socially
2- Read – starting to read requires little effort, knowledge and skills are not paid for with money
3- Choose your friends well – surround yourself with interesting people that above all are positive and have the same interest as you
4- Dedicate yourself to what you like and do well – Find a job that you are good at and like
5- Get used to getting out of your comfort zone – to many of us want to stay in our comfort zone and will never experience other things
6- Consistency is the key to success – perseverance is necessary if you want to stand out from other people
7- Take care of your health – exercise, eat and sleep well. The better you treat your body the better you will feel
8- Don’t get discouraged by failures – use your failures as an opportunity to improve and resume your activities with more vigor and courage
9- Do not settle into inactivity – the chair, sofa, and bed are the killers of life
10- Accept those things that we cannot change – God give me the grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed ________, Courage to change the things which should be changed_______, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. (fill in the blanks)
11- Take time each day to motivate yourself - we all need to remember why we spend so much time on the activity in which we want to excel
12- Enthusiasm – if you choose to do something that you like, you are to do it with enthusiasm and passion
13- Focus on being productive (not just busy) – get in the habit of eliminating the phrase “I’m busy”

This month's wellness corner is 5 Ways to Beat the Blues this Winter by Geisinger
Symptoms of Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD)
Most people with SAD feel moody or grumpy, lose motivation for activities they would normally enjoy doing & may sleep more but still feel tired. They also crave more carbohydrates – think comfort foods like mac & cheese, other pastas & bread.
If you’ve experienced feelings of sadness & depression during the Winter over the past 2 years, you may have SAD.
5 Tips to Feel Better if You’ve Got the “Winter Blues”
If the colder season has you (as well as your fingers) blue, Dr. Bodkin recommends developing a few habits to help you feel more like yourself.
1. Go Outside – It may be cold outside but getting out of your house or office can help you shake the blues. Try taking a walk during your lunch break or spending time outside on the weekends to expose your body to more natural light.
2. Exercise – Elevating your heart rate with a brisk walk, bike, run, swim, or other workout can stave off feelings of moodiness.
3. Consider Light Therapy – During the Winter months, a light therapy box can provide some relief from the symptoms of SAD. A light therapy box uses a special fluorescent light bulb that mimics daylight. “Light therapy should be done within an hour of waking up for about 20-30 minutes,” says Dr. Bodkin. “The key is to keep the light box near your face but not to look directly at the light.”
4. Eat Healthy – While you may crave comfort foods, eating a more heart-healthy diet can help treat SAD. Research has shown that a diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains & healthy proteins decrease the risk of feeling down.
5. Keep a Set Sleep Schedule – Getting enough sleep & maintaining a consistent sleep schedule can help you combat SAD. “Most people need about 8 hours of sleep each night, and to fight SAD, it’s helpful to wake up with the sun in the morning,” notes Dr. Bodkin.
If these natural remedies do not seem to be helping, let your doctor know. Like other forms of depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder may also be treated with medication, like antidepressants, and talk therapy.

This month's focus word is: Mistake
Mistake is a great word for this month! The pictures and articles were easy to put together and I can truly relate. We all make mistakes, but together let’s figure out how to move past them. I’m proud to work with great people like you that admit mistakes, own it, and move past them – that is part of what makes us a great team! Hope you find the points below as helpful as I have…

Step 1: Allow Yourself to Feel Awful About it (But Not for Too Long)
In response to a stressful scenario, like making a mistake at work, it’s natural to feel frustrated, embarrassed, or even distressed for, say, 10-15 seconds. But ideally, after 15 seconds, the feeling should pass. A tiny shadow of negativity may linger, but in general, you get over the snafu.
However, sometimes—for all kinds of reasons—emotions get “stuck,” and instead of dissipating after a few seconds, they keeping building and building, like steam swirling inside a kettle.
When that happens, it’s important to release that pent-up steam in a healthy manner and as soon as possible—by, for instance, going for a quick jog around the block, taking a kickboxing class, journaling in your diary, or talking it out with a therapist, coach, or friend who can give you a sense of perspective. Which brings me to:

Step 2: Keep Things in Perspective
It can be difficult to maintain a sense of perspective when you’re upset with yourself, but try to make sure your emotional response is proportional to the blunder you made.
With very few exceptions—like if you’re a pilot, surgeon, or military personnel—making an error at work is not a life-or-death situation, and most mistakes can be resolved or corrected right away.
So you uploaded the wrong file, double-booked an important meeting, showed up late for a presentation, or included a typo in an important report. You’re alive. No one was mortally wounded. On the freeway of life, this is a parking ticket, not a multiple car pile-up.
A friend of mine who is a professional copywriter once said, “I love my work because nobody dies if I’m not witty enough with a tagline. I do my best, but ultimately, it’s words on a page or a screen. It’s not life or death!”
Step 3: Confront Your Worst-Case Scenario—Then Let it Go
In life, there certainly are consequences for mistakes. But sometimes, your mind exaggerates and distorts the potential consequences for your mistake, sending you into a state of agony and stressing you out, which, ironically, can cause you to make more errors in the future.
It can be helpful to confront your personal worst-case scenario—whatever that may be—so that you can make peace with it and move on.
You might say to yourself, “OK, I goofed up. And you know what? Maybe I will get fired. It’s highly unlikely, because it’s very costly and time-intensive for employers to replace great employees and I usually do a terrific job. But if that happens? I will survive. I am resourceful and creative and I won’t let anything—not even a job loss—derail my life, my health, or my happiness.”

Step 4: Apologize if You Need to—But Don’t Overdo It If you need to apologize for your goof, do it swiftly and briefly: “Hi Jim, I made a mistake and I’m working on correcting it ASAP.”
Often, that’s the only sentence you need to say.
No excuses. No justifications. No verbally flogging yourself. Just acknowledge the error and move on. Honestly, people are usually so preoccupied with their own goals, projects, and issues, they’ve probably forgotten all about whatever you did wrong by the time you reach this step!

Step 5: Create a Game Plan for Next Time
Evaluate what you need to do differently next time to make sure this same mistake doesn’t happen again. Were you multi-tasking beyond your ability, with dozens of tabs open on your browser? Were you rushing too fast to hit a deadline, missing important details in the process?
If you find an issue that you can address, do so. And for extra measure, if you feel that it would be beneficial to tell your boss about how you’re going to prevent mistakes in the future, do that, too.
Step 6: Take Better Care of Yourself
Most Americans are sleep deprived, and persistent sleep deprivation will eventually catch up with you—in the form of impaired attention, alertness, concentration, reasoning, and problem solving. Some studies indicate that working while sleepy is just as bad as working while under the influence of alcohol.
Aside from sleepiness, poor nutrition, dehydration, sitting too long in your chair, and lack of exercise can all contribute to poor performance at work. So if you want to avoid making mistakes in the future, get serious about your physical wellbeing.
Start treating yourself like a professional athlete—sleep, train, work, fuel, sleep, and repeat—and you might notice more clarity and fewer errors.
Step 7: Earn Back Trust Through Your Actions—Not Just Your Words
The best way to earn people’s trust and admiration is to consistently deliver great work. Period. Do that, and occasional bouts of forgetfulness or slip-ups here and there are likely to be quickly forgiven—and forgotten.
Bottom line: One mistake—even a big one—does not have to derail your life or career.
Ever hear of Akio Morita? His first invention was a terrible rice cooker that burned rice, which, obviously, no one wanted. He sold less than 100 of them. That mistake didn’t stop him from trying to improve, though. He kept working and eventually his little gadget company—Sony—became a household name.
The point is, you can fail—even very publicly and dramatically—and still reinvent yourself, move past the mistake, and create a rich, amazing, successful life.
So, if you’re still mentally thrashing yourself about the document you forgot to attach to
that email the other week, let it go. You are going to be just fine.

This month's focus word is: Sisu
'SISU' comes from a Finnish root word that implies 'inner' or 'inside'. This is one reason it is sometimes translated as 'guts' or 'inner strength'."

There is a winsome little word in Finnish that carries the wisdom of five centuries on its lithe shoulders. Lately, with Finland’s climb to the top of world happiness rankings, it has also been carrying the glare of a global spotlight. The word is SISU. Despite its playful sound, it stands for something monumental, with closest translations scattered along the bold lines of grit, determination and perseverance. SISU is perhaps easier to grasp in images, rather than words. Like the image of Finnish soldiers in the brutal cold of the Winter War, defying all odds against the mighty Soviet army to preserve Finland’s independence. Or the image of endurance athletes stretched to their limits, urging their exhausted feet forward, step after step. Or the image of weightlifters, with bulging muscles and protruding veins, their wills and their weights a droplet of sweat away from toppling. And yet, there they are, tapping into hidden reserves of inner strength and prevailing – crossing finish lines and lifting trophies above their heads

“A significant part of our happiness is determined by how we face adversaries.”
“Sisu, as an attitude of commitment and refusal to give in, can help us in these situations. Instead of taking the challenges as failures or as evidence that one is not happy, one almost welcomes them as a chance to show what one is made of. Thus, I believe that the better one is in facing adversaries with an accepting and courageous attitude, the easier it is to experience well-being and happiness, even when life is not making it easy for one.”
Lessons from the happiest country in the world.
