Congratulations Amy, for being the Safety Champion!

Amy is a member of our First Responders Team and is truly concerned about the welfare of her team members. On two occasions, we witnessed Amy giving outstanding care and compassion for her peers, who were in need. Amy is constantly engaging her team members, often times giving them tips on how to perform their tasks more efficiently, how to identify quality issues, and even giving them her own Boyd flashlight. Amy’s positive attitude is infectious! We are grateful to have her on our team. When asked to perform new tasks, Amy’s response is always yes, even before knowing all the details!

Welcome to our Summer Luncheon at Boyd Corp. in Allenton, WI! We appreciate all of our hard-working employees, on these hot, humid days, as we served spicy Fajitas and Mexican Rice!

Many thanks to Chef Kurt and Mike for the "organic" Spicy Chicken Fajitas and Amy for helping!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hands on position requires production of quality die castings that comply with customer specifications and run within set control limits
-Carry out such duties as the Casting Ops Mgr may specify
-Verify setups per process sheets on a daily basis within the first hour of shift
-Work as a team with the Quality Inspector to have the authority to stop processes at die cast or trim, when not in control – excessive scrap produced (UCL)
-Delegate and supervise the work of all employees in the die cast department
-Analyze and evaluate p-charts and efficiency reports on a daily basis
-Attend and participate in daily production meetings
-Instruct new employees on safe work habits
-Maintain a clean and orderly work area
-Observe all Boyd safety and OSHA guidelines and procedures
-Any other duties as assigned
-Must support and follow the QMS requirements

Meet Mike Meyer – General Manager, Boyd Corporation – Casting Division

Mike has been part of the die casting industry for nearly 30 years; as General Manager with Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, as President with Fort Recovery Industries in Fort Recovery, Ohio, and now as General Manager with Boyd Corporation. With Mercury Marine, Mike’s team installed the largest high pressure die cast machine in North America, a 4500 ton Buhler. An advocate of advancing our industry through new technology, Mike has established a strong network of information sharing through extensive travel throughout the United States, as well as Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and Germany. Mike also has been an advocate of safety, having received Mercury Marine’s S.A.F.E Award – given to one employee annually who has had the greatest impact on building a culture of safety. He is a former Chapter 12 Board Member, and serves on NADCA’s Board of Governors, as Vice-Chairman. Mike, an active and committed participant in our industry, has made countless trips to Washington, D.C. to educate elected officials on which policies harm our industry and which deserve their support.

Mike has been married to his wife, Sarah, for over 25 years. Mike and Sarah have two children; Michael, and Lily.
