"I think I need one of these too!"

That was Mr. DiGG at our ConExpo booth, looking at the Winkle Hyd Mag.

Here's the thing about most hydraulic magnets — you need a separate gen set on the back of the excavator to power them. Extra hardware. Extra hassle when you want to move the magnet to a different machine.

The Hyd Mag puts the generator right inside the unit. Hook up the hoses, you're working. Need it on another excavator tomorrow? Pop it off, move it over, hook it back up.

And with the teeth on the underside, the same tool sorts and digs through the pile before you engage the magnet. One attachment doing the work of two.

We rebuild them all — and we reline the shoes ourselves.

In-house brake shoe relining with RF38 (or custom on request) means we control fitment, torque, and quality from start to finish. Every reman brake is restored to OEM-quality standards, built to AISE and NEMA specs, torque-tested before shipment, and backed by a one-year warranty.

Torque ratings from 10 to 9,000 lb-ft. Standard, obsolete, or custom — if it's a magnetic shoe brake on a crane, hoist, or rotating asset, we've probably already rebuilt one.

💡 Employee Spotlight: Kevin Tripp 💡

At Winkle, our strength comes from the people behind the work and we’re proud to introduce Kevin Tripp, our Engineering Manager.

Kevin joined Winkle in late 2025, bringing with him over 30 years of experience across the electric motor, transformer, breaker, and magnet industries. His career path is anything but typical—starting as a machinist, advancing into mechanical engineering, and eventually leading operations as a general manager. Along the way, he’s built deep expertise in design, process engineering, and fabrication, while also sharing his knowledge as an instructor in machining and CAD technologies.

What drives Kevin today? Tackling challenges head-on and working alongside the talented teams across engineering, the office, and the shop floor. He’s passionate about solving problems and making a positive impact—always aiming to make the work a little easier and more enjoyable for those around him.

Known for his easygoing personality and natural ability to connect with others, Kevin brings both technical expertise and a strong team spirit to Winkle.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find him spending time with his grandchildren, enjoying live music, or cruising in his 1977 Corvette.
