This week we celebrated the retirement of Phil McManus. Phil has been with the Greene family businesses for 17 years.

He joined J. Downey in the start of Greene’s new company Thru-Wall Construction 6 years ago. He held the position of Field Operations Manager which included preforming door inspections & repairs, firestopping, damper inspections and repairs, ordering materials, providing schedules of work to be performed, maintaining relationships with clients, subcontractors and co-workers, and lending a helping hand when needed!

Previous to Thru-Wall Phil was a Superintendent and carpenter at G. Greene Construction Co., Inc.. In those 11 years he had worked in many of our regular facilities throughout eastern Massachusetts.

We will greatly miss his hard work and dedication to the company and wish him a relaxing retirement enjoying time with his family.

It's Fire Prevention Week and a great time to remind ourselves of the dangers fire can cause in our place of business along with in our homes.

NFPA has been the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week since 1922. According to the National Archives and Records Administration's Library Information Center, Fire Prevention Week is the longest running public health and safety observance on record. The President of the United States has signed a proclamation declaring a national observance during that week every year since 1925. Visit www.firepreventionweek.org for more safety information.

Since 1922, Fire Prevention Week (FPW) has been observed on the Sunday through Saturday period in which October 9 falls to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The theme of the 2018 campaign is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere."
