It's that time of the year again. OEM Fabricators, Inc.
put on their annual welding challenge. This year TJ, Gunner, and Earl were chosen to participate (left to right in picture). . . . . .. . . . . and the winner was TJ! The guys from OEM complimented the crew on thier projects' dimensional accuracy and weld quality, while also giving them some good pointers on reading welding symbols on the blueprint! Feel free to zoom in on the projects, we hope you do! Overall, we are very proud of how these students represented Lincoln!

Thanks agian Joe, Joe, and Tom for taking the time out of their busy day to visit with us and judge the projects!

Note: Gunner was not able to make be here, so we let Byrce (last year's welding challenge winner, and now new OEM employee) step in for the picture.

Thanks again to the La Crosse Area Builders Association for organizing and putting on the 4th Annual Build My Future event at the Omni Center in Onalaska. LHS brought 22 students, and over one thousand other students attended as well. This event gets high school students fired up about the trades and informs them of opportunities that are both lucrative and rewarding. Of the many exhibitors there, 47 are actively hiring entry level workers.

Trades joke (except not actually a joke)

AI: “I can do your job faster, cheaper, and 24/7.”

Trades worker: “Cool. Can you climb into a crawlspace, fix a mystery rattle, explain it to the homeowner, and still make it look easy?”

AI: “…Error 404: common sense not found.” 🔧😄

Putting their skills to the test at UW-Stout today for the SkillsUSA Regional Competition!

Competing against teams from across the state, Bryce, Jay, and Gunner brought home a 🥉 in the Welding Fabrication Team Event!

Ezekiel and Axyle earned a 🥈 in the Additive Manufacturing Team Event!

The Welding Fabrication competition consists of a three-hour timed build of a predetermined product. Teams are provided with a blueprint and a stack of raw materials. They must cut, lay out, and weld the product using MIG, TIG, and stick welding (if you know, you know 😉). As if that weren’t enough, they also complete a written test and participate in a ten-minute interview with the competition judge.

The Additive Manufacturing competition consists of a design challenge with specific criteria. Competitors must design a part using 3D modeling software, 3D print it, and then test the product. This year’s challenge was to design a squeezing device that provided the most efficient weight-to-force ratio. With just two hours for design, a written test on additive manufacturing technology, and only one attempt at printing and testing their design, the pressure was on!

We are incredibly proud of all of these students for their hard work, skill, and professionalism. Way to represent Lincoln!

**Big things happening around here lately!**

Today we had a special visit from OEM Fabricators, who stopped by with some hardware—and a big surprise for one of our own. They awarded *Bryce Arnold* **1st place** in their regional welding competition!

As the top winner, Bryce took home a $200 cash prize and, more importantly, some well-deserved recognition for his outstanding skills.

Huge congratulations, Bryce, and the other competitors Stratton and Johnny! We’re proud to see your hard work and talent shine. We'd also like to extend a big thank-you to OEM Fabricators for supporting our future welders and celebrating excellence in the trades!

We were very happy to help out the Black River Falls Karner Blue Garden Club when they approached us with their decorative fence idea! All fabrication was done by students here are Lincoln!

The project can be viewed at the intersection of HWY 12 & 54 downtown Black River Falls!

Pictures from two field trips last week. One was to the LaCrosse Build My Future, and the other to Coloma for the Local 139 operating engineers externship day. Two great experiences to get students interested in careers in the construction trade!
