Last week, we welcomed a new group of interns to LSF.

Over the next several months, these students will gain hands on experience while working alongside teams throughout the company. From jobsite exposure and project meetings to leadership interaction and cross departmental shadowing, the goal is to give them a real understanding of how projects move from planning to ex*****on.

This year’s intern group includes students from Penn State, Penn College, LSU, and IUP, each bringing different interests, perspectives, and career goals to the team. We’re glad to have Logan, Maxwell, Hannah, Ethan, and Ian with us this summer and look forward to the contributions they’ll make along the way.

Meet the LSF Safety Team.

Alex Orwig, Chloe Guzic, Emily Woods, and Tyler Pershing are the direct links between our safety program and our project sites. They are in the field every day, leading training, conducting inspections and audits, supporting continuous improvement, and helping crews analyze the work before it begins.

Their role is as much about prevention as it is about compliance. They identify risks early, reinforce best practices, and make sure the LSF commitment to safety is felt on every job site.

That consistency across every project is what turns a safety program into a safety culture.

We are grateful for everything this team does to make sure our people go home safe.

Meet Joel Emerson, Director of Safety.

Joel leads LSF’s safety efforts across all projects, working closely with project managers, field supervisors, employees, and subcontractors to ensure safety is planned, communicated, and carried through in the field.

His role centers on developing and maintaining safety programs, supporting training, and reinforcing a culture built on awareness, accountability, and continuous improvement.

For Joel, the most meaningful part of the role is the people. He values the relationships across the organization and the shared commitment to doing the work the right way.

He describes LSF as a family atmosphere and an organization that supports individuals in building strong careers in the construction industry.

Construction Safety Week is an important reminder of what is at stake in our industry. At LSF, safety is part of our culture. It is a system, a standard, and a shared responsibility across every project and every team.

That starts with our core safety value: the work of our organization should preserve the wellbeing of our clients, employees, project team members, and the public. It is reflected in how we plan work, train our people, and measure performance.

It is also reflected in the recognitions we have earned, including our participation in ABC's STEP program and being named an ABC National Top Performer in 2026, a distinction driven by safety performance, low incident rates, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

As we kick off the 2026 Little League season, we’re taking a quick trip back through the years.

For decades, we’ve proudly supported youth sports. Many of our employees now cheer on their kids and grandkids from the stands, and some of those players from years past are part of the LSF team today. It’s one of the ways we invest in our community and in the teamwork, confidence, and opportunities that shape the next generation.
