The most successful sustainability initiatives we've seen don't start with sustainability. They start with operational efficiency.

Whether it's electric yard trucks, lithium-powered forklifts, autonomous robotics, or mobile technologies, adoption accelerates when organizations can clearly connect the investment to productivity, workflow improvements, and cost reduction.

Where else can you find mobile powered workstations?

Most people may think of warehouses and distribution centers.

But when you walk through a busy automotive service department, you'll see the same challenge: technicians constantly moving between vehicles, terminals, printers, parts counters, and diagnostic stations.

The industry spends a lot of time focused on labor utilization, technician recruitment, and repair processes. Yet one of the biggest opportunities often hides in plain sight: reducing interruptions that pull technicians away from the vehicle.

When service data, diagnostics, printers, and power move directly to the repair bay, technicians waste less time walking and waiting, and more time completing repairs.

One of the biggest misconceptions in warehouse modernization is that automation alone will solve operational challenges heading into 2026.

Yes, facilities are accelerating technology adoption. In fact, an estimated 26% of warehouses are expected to be partly automated by 2027. But at the same time, operators are still facing intense labor challenges, rising throughput expectations, and workforce fatigue that technology alone cannot fix. The average warehouse employee walks nearly 10 miles per shift, while manufacturing turnover continues to hover around 40%. Those realities are forcing many operational leaders to rethink what “efficiency” actually means.

A recurring theme we continue to hear from operations and supply chain leaders is that the future is not simply about replacing labor — it’s about enabling the existing workforce to perform at a higher level with smarter, more ergonomic, and more adaptable technologies. The organizations seeing the strongest results are focusing on practical modernization strategies that improve mobility, reduce unnecessary movement, support employee retention, and create operational flexibility without overcomplicating the environment.

Automation works best when technology supports the human workforce rather than competes with it.
